CWG-2022: Mirabai Chanu clinches India's first gold at Birmingham Commonwealth Games

Commonwealth Games-2022: Olympic silver medalist Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu clinched the gold medal in the women’s 49 Kg weightlifting event at CWG-2022. Mirabai won India’s first medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG-2022).

Mirabai had total lifts of 201kg, including 88kg in Snatch and 113kg in Clean & Jerk to create a new CWG record as well as her own personal best.

Roilya Ranaivosoa of Mauritania won silver with a total lift of 172kgs while Canada’s Hannah Kaminski won bronze with a total of 171kgs to her name.

About Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist Mirabai Chanu 

The 27-year-old Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu from Manipur has become the first player from India to win a medal at the Barhingam 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Mirabai Chanu started her training at SAI centre in Imphal near her hometown. For the last six year, the genial Mirabai Chanu would have been home in Manipur for a total of five weeks. She remained in her training base at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala, taking time off only to travel to Mumbai for rehabilitation of her lower back injury in 2018.

ओलंपिक चैंपियन भारोत्तोलक मीराबाई चानू ने महिलाओं की 49 किलोग्राम भारोत्तोलन स्पर्धा में स्वर्ण पदक जीता. यह बर्मिंघम राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों (CWG-2022) में भारत का पहला पदक है।

मीराबाई ने गोल्ड मेडल जितने के लिए कुल 201 किग्रा भार उठाया, जिसमें स्नैच में 88 किग्रा और क्लीन एंड जर्क में 113 किग्रा शामिल हैं।

मॉरिटानिया की रोइल्या रानाइवोसोआ ने कुल 172 किग्रा भार उठाकर रजत पदक जीता जबकि कनाडा की हन्ना कमिसंकी ने कुल 171 किग्रा भार के साथ कांस्य पदक अपने नाम किया।
