Pranay Kumar Verma appointed as next High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh
Senior diplomat and IFS officer Pranay Kumar Verma has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh. Pranay Kumar Verma is a 1994 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer.
Pranay Kumar Verma is currently serving as India’s Ambassador to Vietnam. Earlier in 2019, he was appointed as the Ambassador of India to Vietnam.
Pranay Kumar Verma succeeded Vikram Doraiswamy, the current High Commissioner, who is expected to take over as India's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK).
He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
About Ambassador Pranay Kumar Verma
Ambassador Pranay Kumar Verma has held diplomatic assignments in Hong Kong, San Francisco, Beijing, Kathmandu and Washington DC. He served as Joint Secretary, East Asia Division in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
Pranay Kumar Verma also served as Joint Secretary for Foreign Relations in the Department of Atomic Energy, looking after India's nuclear diplomacy.
