India and UK conclude fifth round of talks for India-UK Free Trade Agreement 

India and the United Kingdom concluded the fifth round of talks for an India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Negotiation officials undertook these technical talks in a hybrid fashion – with some of the teams meeting in New Delhi, India, and the majority of officials joining virtually.

For this round of negotiations, technical experts from both sides came together for detailed draft treaty text discussions in 85 separate sessions covering 15 policy areas. 

Indian and UK officials will continue to work intensively throughout the summer towards our target to conclude the majority of talks on a comprehensive and balanced Free Trade Agreement by the end of October 2022.


NHIDCL and NSDC sign MoU for collaboration in skill development initiatives 

National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration in skill development initiatives.

The MoU provides a formal basis interaction between NHIDCL and NSDC, and will play a significant role in realizing the aims and objectives of Prime Minister’s skill development program.

The purpose of this MoU is to establish the basis of collaboration between NHIDCL and NSDC, to take up multiple initiatives contributing towards making India the Skill Capital of the World.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 207.29 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.53%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 207.29 Cr (2,07,29,46,593) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.96 Cr (3,96,45,370) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.
 
India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,25,076. Active cases now constitute 0.28% of the country's total Positive Cases. 16,299 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.53%. 19,431 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,35,55,041.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.85% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 4.58%.
