Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on a four-day visit to Australia   

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on a four-day visit to Australia to strengthen Indo-Australian ties and to explore the connect, collaborate and cooperate aspect in education and skill development.

Key Highlights

During his 4-day visit, on 21st August, the Minister will interact with the Indian diaspora. Next day, Pradhan will be visiting Western Sydney University (WSU) to co-chair the 6th meeting of the Australia India Education Council with Australian Counterpart Ms. Jason Clare. Along with Sarah Mitchell MLC, NSW Minister for Education, Pradhan will be visiting a school. 

Dharmendra Pradhan will also visit TAFE NSF and The University of New South Wales (UNSW) based in Sydney, where he will be interacting with the Vice-Chancellors and senior representatives of the Australian Government ,Department of Education.


Grameen Udyami Project launched in Ranchi 

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in partnership with Seva Bharti and Yuva Vikas Society, today launched the second phase of Grameen Udyami Project.

Under the initiative, the endeavour is to multiskill India’s youth and impart functional skills to them for enabling livelihoods.


EPFO adds around 18.36 lakh new members in June, 2022 

The provisional payroll data of EPFO released on 20th August, 2022 highlights that EPFO has added 18.36 lakh net members in the month of June, 2022. For the month of June, 2022 the net member addition has increased by 9.21% as compared to the previous month of May, 2022.

Year-on-year comparison of payroll data reflects that June, 2022 has registered an increase of 5.53 lakh in terms of net member addition comparing the corresponding month during last year in 2021.

Key Highlights

Age-wise comparison of payroll data indicates that the age-group of 22-25 years has registered the highest number of net enrolments with 4.72 lakh additions during June, 2022.

State-wise comparison of payroll figures highlights that the establishments covered in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Gujarat and Delhi continue to remain in lead by adding approximately 12.61 lakh net members during the month, which is 68.66% of total net payroll addition across all age groups.

Gender-wise analysis indicates that enrollment of net female members has increased to 4.06 lakh in the current month from 3.43 lakh during last month, registering an increase of 18.37%. It is also observed that participation of the female workforce in the organised sector has been the highest in the last 12 months. Accordingly the percentage share of net female member addition has increased from 20.37% in May 2022 to 22.09% in the month of June 2022.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 209.40 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.58%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 209.40 Cr (2,09,40,48,140) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.99 Cr (3,99,22,101) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,01,166. Active cases now constitute 0.23% of the country's total Positive Cases. 13,272 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.58%. 13,900 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,36,99,435.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 3.87% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 4.21%.
