PM Modi inaugurates and lays foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 4400 crore in Bhuj    

Gujarat Elections 2022: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 4400 crore in Bhuj. Earlier, he also inaugurated Smriti Van Memorial in Bhuj district of Gujarat.

Key Highlights

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Smriti Van Memorial in Bhuj district. Envisioned by the Prime Minister, Smriti Van is a one of its kind initiative. It has been built in an area of around 470 acre to celebrate the spirit of resilience shown by the people after the death of around 13,000 people who had lost their lives during the 2001 earthquake which had its epicenter in Bhuj. The Memorial carries names of the people who had lost their lives during the earthquake.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 4400 crore in Bhuj. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Kachchh Branch Canal of Sardar Sarovar Project. The total length of the Canal is around 357 km. A part of the canal was inaugurated by the Prime Minister in 2017 and the remaining part is being inaugurated now. Canal would help in providing irrigation facilities in Kachchh and drinking water in all 948 villages and 10 towns of the Kachchh district. 

Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate various other projects as well including New Automatic Milk Processing and Packing Plant of Sarhad Dairy; Regional Science Centre, Bhuj; Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Convention Centre at Gandhidham; Veer Bal Smarak at Anjar; Bhuj 2 Substation at Nakhatrana etc. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of various projects worth over Rs. 1500 crores as well, including the Bhuj- Bhimasar Road.


13th edition of India - US Joint Special Forces Exercise VAJRA PRAHAR 2022 

The 13th Edition of India - USA Joint Special Forces Exercise VAJRA PRAHAR 2022 culminated at Bakloh (HP) on 28 August 2022. This annual exercise is hosted alternatively between India and the United States. 

The 12th edition was conducted at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington (USA) in October 2021.

Key Highlights

The 21-day joint training provided an opportunity for the Special Forces from both nations to train in Air Borne Operations, Special Operations and Counter Terrorism operations in a joint environment under United Nations Charter.

The exercise was conducted in two phases; the first phase involved combat conditioning and tactical level special missions training exercises and the second phase included 48 hours of validation of training received by both contingents in the first phase.

Asia Cup 2022 T-20: India defeat Pakistan by 5 wickets 

In Cricket, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in their opening Asia Cup 2022 Twenty-20 match at Dubai International Stadium. Put into bat first, Pakistan were bowled out for 147 in 19.5. In reply, India overhauled the target for the loss of five wickets in 19.4 overs. 


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 211.66 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.62%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 211.66 Cr (2,11,66,35,408) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.02 Cr (4,02,51,855) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 86,591. Active cases now constitute 0.19% of the country's total Positive Cases. 9,436 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.62%. 9,999 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,37,93,787.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 2.70% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 2.93%.
