Lok Sabha passed Central Universities (Amendment) Bill 2022 for conversion of the National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI), a Deemed to be University into Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), a Central University.


Rajya Sabha passes Family Courts (Amendment) Bill 2022 

Rajya Sabha passes Family Courts (Amendment) Bill 2022 with a voice vote. The Lok Sabha has already cleared the Bill.

It seeks to amend the Family Courts Act, 1984. The Act allows state governments to establish Family Courts. The central government is empowered to notify dates for the Act to come into force in different states.


PM Modi inaugurate and lay foundation stone of various projects of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission in Gujarat 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission, Dharampur in Valsad district, Gujarat via video conferencing. PM Modi also inaugurated Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital in Dharampur, Valsad.

Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone of Shrimad Rajchandra Animal Hospital. The 150-bed hospital will be built at a cost of around Rs. 70 crores. PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of Shrimad Rajchandra Center of Excellence for Women on the occasion.


Government to set up 'Indian Institute of Heritage' (IIH) as a Deemed University 

Government has decided to set up ‘Indian Institute of Heritage’ (IIH) as a Deemed to be University as per UGC (Institutions deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2019 at Noida,

Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. It will be one of its kind in the country providing higher education and research in the fields of Indian heritage and conservation and the Government has no plan to create more such institutions in the country.

Indian Oil signs MoU with Bangladesh for emergency supply of petroleum goods 

The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) signed an Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Roads and Highways department in Dhaka for the emergency supply of petroleum goods via Bangladesh territory to India.

As per Indian High Commission this is an interim set up to facilitate urgent supply of petroleum products due to damage caused by the flood in Assam this year.

The petroleum tankers will enter from Meghalaya and will go to Tripura crossing through the Bangladesh territory. The IOCL will bear all the administrative fees, charges and local taxes including road usage fee for use of the Bangladeshi territory.


CWG-2022: Saurav Ghosal bags bronze medal in squash at Birmingham Commonwealth Games 

Commonwealth Games 2022: Saurav Ghosal bagged the bronze medal in men's singles squash event at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG 2022). The bronze medal won by Saurav Ghoshal is India's first singles medal in squash competition in the history of the Commonwealth Games.

It was Ghosal's second Commonwealth Games medal, having won a mixed doubles silver with Dipika Pallikal in the 2018 Gold Coast edition.

CWG-2022: Weightlifter Gurdeep Singh clinches bronze medal at Birmingham Commonwealth Games 

Commonwealth Games 2022: Weightlifter Gurdeep Singh clinched a bronze medal in the +109 kg category of men's weightlifting at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG 2022).

The-26-year-old Gurdeep Singh from Punjab lifted a total of 390kg to win the bronze medal, which includes 167kg in snatch and 223kg in clean and jerk.

Commonwealth Games 2022: Tejaswin Shankar made athletics history by winning India's first-ever medal, a bronze, in the men's high jump at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG 2022).

The 23-year-old Tejaswin Shankar won the bronze medal in his best effort of 2.22m high jump while New Zealand's Hamish Kerr won Gold with 2.25m and Australia's Brandon Starc won silver.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 205.22 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.50%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 205.22 Cr (2,05,22,51,408) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.92 Cr (3,92,26,460) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,36,478. Active cases now constitute 0.31% of the country's total Positive Cases. 19,893 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.50%. 20,419 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,34,24,029.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.64% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 4.94%.
