Jyotiraditya Scindia flags off first flight of Akasa Air from Mumbai to Ahmedabad

Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Minister of State for Civil Aviation Gen (Retd) V.K Singh inaugurated the First Flight of Akasa Air (QP1101) from Mumbai to Ahmedabad virtually.

Background

Akasa Air is the 7th schedule airline with brand name of SNV Aviation having Corporate Headquarters at Mumbai with Boeing Max - 8 aircraft. Akasa Air plans to be a low-cost carrier with a single fleet and all economy seats. Akasa Air is planning to expand its activities to 72 aircrafts in next five years which will significantly enhance the domestic aviation services in India.

CWG-2022: Priyanka Goswami and Avinash Sable wins Silver in athletics at Birmingham Commonwealth Games

Commonwealth Games 2022: Priyanka Goswami scripted history as she became the first Indian woman to win a medal in race walk with a silver in 10,000m event at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. On the other hand Avinash Sable bagged the silver medal in men's 3000m Steeplechase event at CWG-2022.

Priyanka Goswami won the silver medal with a personal best time of 43:38.83s and Jemima Montag of Australia won the gold medal (42:34.30s). Kenya's Emily Wamusyi Ngii (43:50.86s) won the bronze medal.

Avinash Sable finished the race with a time of 8:11.20, creating a new national record.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya defeated Ebikewenimo Welson of Nigeria in the final to win his maiden CWG gold.

Commonwealth Games 2022: Wrestler Vinesh Phogat bagged the gold medal in Women's 53KG freestyle wrestling event at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG 2022).

Vinesh Phogat created a CWG record by winning a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022. This is Vinesh's third consecutive gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Earlier Vinesh won gold medal in Glasgow 2014 as well as Gold Coast 2018.

Vinesh Phogat is also the first-ever female wrestler from India to win gold medals at the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 206.21 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.50%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 206.21 Cr (2,06,21,79,411) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.94 Cr (3,94,89,966) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,34,933. Active cases now constitute 0.31% of the country's total Positive Cases. 18,738 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.50%. 18,558 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,34,84,110.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.63% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 5.02%.
