PM Modi on a two-day visit to Uzbekistan to attend SCO Summit today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Samarkand in Uzbekistan from today to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.

PM Modi is visiting the country at the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

During the SCO Summit 2022 in Uzbekistan, the leaders are expected to review the organisation’s activities over the past two decades and discuss the state and prospects of multilateral cooperation in the future.

The SCO Summit currently comprises eight Member States - China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Wholesale price-based inflation eases to 12.41% in August

According to the Commerce and Industry Ministry data released, the Wholesale price-based inflation eased to 12.41 per cent in August as compared to 13.93 per cent in the preceding month.

The Wholesale inflation was at a record high of 15.88 per cent in May this year and stood at 11.64 per cent in August last year.

Noted tennis player and former Davis Cup captain Naresh Kumar has passed away in Kolkata. He was 93. Naresh Kumar was the coach of veteran Indian tennis player Leander Paes in the early days.

The Noted player was honored with the Dronacharya Lifetime Achievement Award by the Government of India in 2020, Naresh Kumar becoming the first tennis coach to receive the honour.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 215.98 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.71%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 215.98 Cr (2,15,98,16,124) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.07 Cr (4,07,27,863) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 46,389. Active cases now constitute 0.1% of the country's total Positive Cases. 6,422 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.71%. 5,748 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,39,41,840.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.71% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 2.04%.
