PM Modi releases 8 wild Cheetahs in Kuno National Park Madhya Pradesh 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released 8 wild Cheetahs - which had become extinct from India - in Kuno National Park Madhya Pradesh. Cheetahs - brought from Namibia - are being introduced in India under Project Cheetah, which is world's first inter-continental large wild carnivore translocation project. Out of the eight Cheetahs there are five female and three male Cheetahs.

Prime Minister Modi released Cheetahs at two release points in Kuno National Park Madhya Pradesh.

The cheetah was declared extinct from India in 1952. The Cheetahs that would be released are from Namibia and have been brought under an MoU signed earlier this year.....Read More


Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh to visit Egypt from 19 to 20 Sep 2022 

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will pay an official visit to Egypt from 19 to 20 September 2022. During the visit, Rajnath Singh will hold bilateral talks with Minister of Defence and Defence Production, General Mohamed Zaki.

Background 

The two Ministers will review the bilateral defence ties, explore new initiatives to intensify military-to-military engagements and focus on deepening cooperation between the defence industries of the two countries. An MoU to provide further impetus to enhanced defence cooperation between India and Egypt will also be signed.


National Logistics Policy to be launched in New Delhi today 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the National Logistics Policy (NLP) today (17th September, 2022) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The need for a national logistics policy was felt since the logistics cost in India is high as compared to other developed economies. It is imperative to reduce the logistics cost in India for improving the competitiveness of Indian goods both in domestic as well as export markets. Reduced logistics cost improves efficiency cutting across various sectors of the economy, encouraging value addition and enterprise.


India takes over SCO presidency to host SCO summit in 2023 

The rotational presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has been handed over to India in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The capital city Delhi will hold the presidency of the grouping for a year until September 2023. And next year, India will host the SCO summit.

India will host the 9th Session of the Governing Body of the 'International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture' (ITPGRFA) from 19-24th September, 2022 in New Delhi.

International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture' (ITPGRFA)

'International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture' (ITPGRFA) is a legally binding comprehensive agreement adopted in November, 2001 at Rome during the 31st session of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, which entered into force on June 29, 2004 and currently has 149 Contracting Parties, including India.

The treaty provides solutions to achieve food and nutritional security as well as climate resilient agriculture. Countries are inter-dependent for PGRFA and consequently a global order is essential to facilitate access and benefit sharing.


IICA and IIM Jammu signs MoU to synergise academic 

Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to synergise academic, research and executive education programmes in business management and corporate affairs.


Tata Memorial Centre and Vedanta BALCO Medical Centre sign MoU to drive excellence in cancer care  

The Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), Mumbai, and Vedanta Medical Research Foundation’s flagship initiative, BALCO Medical Centre (BMC), Raipur, Chhattisgarh, have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to drive excellence in cancer care in the country.

As per the MoU, the BALCO Medical Centre and Tata Memorial Centre will join forces for exchange of knowledge, and enhancement of skills, capabilities and core practices.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 216.41 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.71%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 216.41 Cr (2,16,41,70,550) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.07 Cr (4,07,90,629) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 46,848. Active cases now constitute 0.11% of the country's total Positive Cases. 5,747 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.71%. 5,618 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,39,53,374.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.74% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.69%.
