EAM S Jaishankar participates in First India-UAE-France trilateral Ministerial meeting in US 

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar participated in the first India-UAE-France trilateral Ministerial meet on the sidelines of a 77th session of the U.N. General Assembly.

The first India-UAE-France trilateral Ministerial meet hosted by UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in New York on 18th September 2022 to participate in the 77th session of the U.N. General Assembly.


India and Egypt agree to recognize enhanced cooperation between their defense industries 

India and Egypt have agreed to identify proposals to enhance cooperation between the defense industries of both the countries in a time-bound manner.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh held bilateral talks with his Egyptian counterpart General Mohamed Zaki in Cairo. Rajnath Singh, who is on an official visit to Egypt.

Key Highlights 

Both sides discussed steps to strengthen defence ties and reached a consensus to enhance conduct of joint exercises and exchange of personnel for training, especially in the field of counter-insurgency.

The two Ministers also exchanged views on regional security and acknowledged the contribution of India and Egypt to peace & stability in the world.

They also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of defence was a milestone event during the visit, which will pave the way for enhancing defence cooperation across all sectors of mutual interest.

Sarbananda Sonowal launches multiple projects for development of Bogibeel, Assam 

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) Sarbananda Sonowal launched multiple projects for the development of the Bogibeel region near Dibrugarh in Assam.

In this regard, the foundation stones were laid by the Union Minister for construction of two floating jetties at Bogibeel and Guijan. Sonowal also inaugurated Bogibeel Riverfront Passenger Jetty.


INS Ajay decommissioned after 32 glorious years of illustrious service 

Indian Naval Ship Ajay was decommissioned after rendering 32 years of glorious service to the nation. The decommissioning ceremony was held at Mumbai’s Naval Dockyard in the traditional manner, wherein the national flag.

INS Ajay was commissioned on 24 Jan 1990 at Poti, Georgia in the erstwhile USSR and was part of the 23rd Patrol Vessel Squadron under the operational control of Flag Officer Commanding, Maharashtra Naval Area. The ship was in active naval service for more than 32 years and during her illustrious journey, she participated in several naval operations including Op Talwar during Kargil War and Op Parakram in 2001.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 216.83 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.71%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 216.83 Cr (2,16,83,24,537) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.08 Cr (4,08,32,053) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 47,379. Active cases now constitute 0.11% of the country's total Positive Cases. 4,043 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.71%. 4,676 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,39,67,340.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.81% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.37%.
