Govt appoints Lt General Anil Chauhan as new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS)
The Government has decided to appoint Lt General Anil Chauhan (Retired) PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM as the next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) who shall also function as Secretary to Government of India, Department of Military Affairs with effect from the date of his assumption of charge and until further orders.
In a career spanning over nearly 40 years, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan had held several command, staff and instrumental appointments and had extensive experience in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu & Kashmir and North-East India.
Lt Gen Anil Chauhan new CDS of India
Born on 18th May 1961, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan was commissioned into the 11 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army in 1981. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. In the rank of Maj General, the officer had commanded an Infantry Division in the critical Baramula sector in the Northern Command.
Later as Lt General, Anil Chauhan commanded a corps in the North East and subsequently
went to become the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command from September 2019 and held the charge until his retirement from the service in May 2021.....Read More

PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the World’s First CNG Terminal and of the brownfield port at Bhavnagar. Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the Regional Science Centre which is spread over 20 acres and has been built at a cost of around ₹100 crores. During the programme,

Anurag Singh Thakur to launch nationwide month-long Clean India 2.0 Programme from 1st Oct
The Department of Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will launch a month-long nationwide Clean India 2.0 from 1st -31st October, 2022 after the successful campaign of last year. The programme is being organised in all the villages across the country through the network of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), affiliated Youth Clubs & National Service Scheme Affiliated Institutions.
Objective
The objectives of the programme are to organize cleaning of public spaces and households across all the districts of the country from 01st October to 31st October 2022, involve all segments of society, Government organizations including PRIs and Non- Government Organizations/Civil Society Organisations to instill awareness and feeling of pride among citizens to keep their surroundings clean and waste free.
India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 218.17 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.72%
India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 218.17 Cr (2,18,17,94,748) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.09 Cr (4,09,94,192) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.
India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 40,750. Active cases now constitute 0.09% of the country's total Positive Cases. 4,272 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.72%. 4,474 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,40,13,999.
The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.51% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.35%.
