India overtakes United Kingdom to become World’s 5th largest economy   

India has overtaken the United Kingdom to become the 5th largest economy in the world. Bloomberg has announced that India has overtaken Britain to become the fifth largest economy of the world.

Bloomberg reached this conclusion by using using the database of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and historic exchange rates.

This is the second time India has beaten the UK in terms of economy, with the first one being in 2019. 

According to GDP figures from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) the calculation is based on US dollars, with India further extending its lead in the first quarter of the current financial year the size of the Indian economy with regards to ‘nominal’ cash was $854.7 billion during the quarter through March. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh to visit Mongolia from 5-7 September 2022 

Giving push to strategic partnership with East Asian countries, Raksha Rajnath Singh will pay an official visit to Mongolia from 05-07 September, 2022.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh is the first ever visit by an Indian Defence Minister to Mongolia and will further consolidate the defence cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries.

Background

During the visit Rajnath Singh will hold bilateral talks with Mongolia’s Minister of Defence Gen. Saikhanbayar. He shall call on the President of Mongolia U. Khurelsukh and Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia G Zandanshatar. The two democracies have a common interest in fostering peace and prosperity in the entire region.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 213.20 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.69%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 213.20Cr (2,13,20,43,050) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.04 Cr (4,04,54,592) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 55,114.Active cases now constitute 0.12% of the country's total Positive Cases. 6,809 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.69%. 8,414 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,38,73,430.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 2.29% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 2.12%.
