Transport Aircraft for Indian Air Force to be made in India by Airbus Defence & TATA consortium   

In a major boost to ‘Make in India’ and domestic aviation manufacturing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of a transport aircraft manufacturing project for the Indian Air Force (IAF) at Vadodara, Gujarat on October 30, 2022.

Background

The Cabinet Committee on Security had, on September 08, 2021, approved the procurement of 56 C-295MW transport aircraft from Airbus Defence and Space S.A., Spain. On September 24, 2021, the Ministry of Defence signed a contract with M/s Airbus Defence and Space S.A. for acquisition of the aircraft with associated equipment.

Key Highlights

16 aircraft will be delivered in flyaway condition and 40 will be manufactured in India by the Indian Aircraft Contractor, TATA Consortium of Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) led by TASL. This is the first project of its kind in which a military aircraft will be manufactured in India by a private company. The total cost of the project is Rs 21,935 crore. The aircraft can be used for civilian purposes as well.

The first 16 fly-away aircraft are scheduled to be received between September 2023 and August 2025. The first Made in India aircraft is expected from September 2026.


IICA signs MoU with NALSAR to collaborate for offering Courses, Research and Publications 

Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University of Law, Hyderabad.

Background

This MoU was signed between IICA and NALSAR for the purpose of academic collaboration that will encompass offer and award of degree, diploma and certificate courses of contemporary importance; exchange members of faculty and students; research and publications; other academic activities; offer of expert advice and consultancy; and joint workshops, seminars and conferences. In addition to this, active efforts will be made to develop joint training and research programmes that will be pursued in a collaborative spirit.


NHIDCL and NIT Silchar signs MoU for seeking and promoting innovative technologies 

National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), a CPSE under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has signed MoU with NIT, Silchar for seeking and promoting innovative technologies to find pragmatic solutions to the challenges posed in the construction of highways facing extreme climatic conditions.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 219.60 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.77%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 219.60 Cr (2,19,60,45,500) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.12 Cr (4,12,41,936) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 19,398. Active cases now constitute 0.04% of the country's total Positive Cases. 2,208 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.77%. 3,619 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,41,00,691.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.12% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.55%.
