India to assume the Chair of Global Partnership on AI (GPAI) 

Close on the heels of assuming the presidency of G20, a league of world’s largest economies, India will take over the chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), an international initiative to support responsible and human-centric development and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

India to assume the Chair of Global Partnership on AI: Key Highlights  

AI has been Catalyzing the Tech Landscape & pushing further the envelope of human possibilities. AI is expected to add USD $967 Bn to the Indian economy by 2035 and USD 450–500 billion to India’s GDP by 2025, accounting for 10% of the country’s USD 5 trillion GDP target. Artificial Intelligence is a Kinetic enabler for growth of India’s Technology ecosystem & a force multiplier for achieving the $1 Trillion Digital Economy goal by 2025.

GPAI is a congregation of 25 member countries, including the US, the UK, EU, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, and Singapore. India had in 2020 joined the group as a founding member.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh to attend ASEAN Defence Ministers Plus meeting in Cambodia 

Rajnath Singh to attend ASEAN Defence Ministers Plus meeting in Cambodia: At the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Cambodia Samdech Pichey Sena TEA Banh, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will pay an official visit to Cambodia from November 22-23, 2022.

Key Highlights 

Cambodia, as the chair of ASEAN Defence Ministers Plus (ADMM Plus) meeting is hosting the 9th annual meeting at Siem Reap, Cambodia and the Raksha Mantri will address the forum on November 23, 2022.

To commemorate 30 years of India-ASEAN relations, India and Cambodia will co-chair the maiden India-ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting on November 22, 2022, presided over by Rajnath Singh.

Background 

India became the dialogue partner of ASEAN in 1992 and the inaugural ADMM-Plus was convened in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 12, 2010. Since 2017, ADMM-Plus Ministers have been meeting annually to further the dialogue and cooperation amongst ASEAN and the Plus countries. India and ASEAN have elevated their relationship to ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’ in November 2022.

EPFO adds 16.82 lakh net members in the month of September, 2022

The provisional payroll data of EPFO released on 20th November, 2022 highlights that EPFO has added 16.82 lakh net members in the month of September, 2022. Year-on-year comparison of payroll data reflects an increase of 9.14% in net membership addition in September, 2022 as compared to the corresponding month during last year in 2021.

Gender-wise analysis 

Gender-wise analysis of payroll data indicates that enrolment of net female members has been 3.50 lakh in September, 2022. Year-on-year comparison of enrollment data shows that net membership of females in organized workforce has increased with a growth rate of 6.98% in September, 2022 compared with the net female membership during previous year in September, 2021. Among the total new members joining EPFO during the month, enrolment of female workforce is recorded as 26.36%.

State-wise payroll figures

State-wise payroll figures highlight that month-on-month growing trend in net member addition was observed in states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa etc. The states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Gujarat and Delhi continue to remain in lead by adding approximately 11.41 lakh net members during the month, which is 67.85% of total net payroll addition across all age groups.
