India's foreign exchange reserves increase $6.5 billion to $531 billion 

As per the latest data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), India’s foreign exchange reserves increased $6.5 billion for the week ended October 28 to $531 billion.


SBI profit hike 74% at Rs 13,265 crore in 2nd quarter 

India' biggest public sector bank State Bank of India (SBI) has reported its highest-ever quarterly profit of 13,265 crore rupees for the second quarter ended on the 30th of September 2022.

The Bank's quarterly profit is 74 per cent higher than the 7,627 crore rupees reported in the year-ago period.


India-Australia joint maritime partnership exercise conclude in Bay of Bengal 

The Indian Navy and the Royal Australian Navy's joint maritime partnership exercise concluded in the Bay of Bengal.

A Maritime Partnership Exercise involving Royal Australian Navy(RAN) ships HMAS Adelaide and HMAS Anzac and Indian Navy Ships Jalashwa and Kavaratti along with their embarked helicopters was held in the Bay of Bengal from 02 to 03 Nov 2022.

Key Highlights  

The exercises included tactical manoeuvres, helicopter landings and amphibious operations, which signified the high degree of interoperability between IN and RAN.

Royal Australian Navy (RAN) ships HMAS Adelaide and HMAS Anzac visited Visakhapatnam from 30 Oct to 01 Nov 2022. This was part of Australia’s Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2022 (IPE 22). The Australian Defence Forces were hosted by the Eastern Naval Command. Ships of the Indian Navy's Eastern Fleet as also personnel from the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force participated in various joint activities.


Bhupendra Yadav on an official visit to Sharm El Sheikh to attend COP 27 

Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, who is leading the Indian delegation to the 27th Session of Conference of Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27) from 6-18 November, 2022, arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

The world has gathered to deliberate on sustainable ways to fight Climate Change. COP27 should be 'COP of Action' with key deliverables having specific focus on defining Climate Finance, outcomes on Adaptation and Loss & Damage.


Ministry of Tourism to participate in World Travel Market 2022 from 7-9 Nov in London 

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India will participate in World Travel Market (WTM) 2022 from 7th to 9th November in London which is one of the largest international travel exhibitions. India is participating in WTM 2022 to showcase itself as a preferred destination for tourism.

Theme 

The theme of this year's exhibition is ‘The Future of Travel Starts Now’. With the reopening of the country to foreign tourists, after a gap of almost 2 years, this year`s participation of India is particularly significant.


RBI imposes ₹1 Crore 76 Lakh Penalty on Vakrangee Limited 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1,76,00,000 (Rupees One Crore and Seventy Six Lakh only) on Vakrangee Limited for non-compliance with certain provisions of the White Label ATM (WLA) directions.

Background

It was observed that the entity was non-compliant with the directions issued by RBI on ATM deployment targets. Accordingly, notice was issued to the entity advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed for non-compliance with the directions. After considering the entity’s responses and oral submissions made during the personal hearing, RBI concluded that the aforesaid charge of non-compliance with RBI directions was substantiated and warranted imposition of monetary penalty.
