President Droupadi Murmu confers National Sports, Adventure Awards 2022  

National Sports and Adventure Awards 2022: President Droupadi Murmu gave away the National Sports and Adventure Awards 2022 at Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The Awards include Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards-2022; Dronacharya Awards-2022; Arjuna Awards-2022; Dhyan Chand Awards-2022; Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards-2021; Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar-2022; and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy-2022.

Dronacharya Award 2022 

President Droupadi Murmu presented the Dronacharya award to wrestling coach Raj Singh and boxing coach Mohammad Ali Qamar at the ceremony. Para shooting coach Suma Siddharth Shirur and wrestling coach Sujeet Maan also received the Dronacharya award.

Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award for 2022 

Table Tennis player Sharath Kamal Achanta has been chosen for Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award for 2022.

Arjun Award 2022 

This year Arjuna Awards for outstanding performance in Sports and Games will be given to 25 sportspersons. They include athletes Seema Punia and Eldhose Paul, shuttlers Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy, woman boxer Nikhat Zareen, Hockey player Deep Grace Ekka, weightlifter Vikash Thakur, Wrestlers Anshu and Sarita and Para-Badminton player Tarun Dhillon.

Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement 2022 

Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports and Games will be given to four sportspersons including Ashwini Akkunji C, Dharamvir Singh, B.C Suresh, and Nir Bahadur Gurung. Three entities including TransStadia Enterprises Private Limited, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, and Ladakh Ski and Snowboard Association have been recommended for the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar.


India, South Korea signs Krw 245 billion loan MoU for Transport System on Nagpur-Mumbai 

The arrangement between the Government of India and the Government of Republic of Korea regarding the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) loan of Korean Won 245.081 billion (approx. Rs. 1,495.68 crore) for Establishment of Intelligent Transport System on Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway Project was signed in New Delhi.

Objective 

The objectives of the project are to enhance the efficiency in traffic management through establishment of the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) and traffic centre, to improve the efficiency in toll management through the establishment of the Toll Collection System (TCS) and to establish a sustainable model of ITS and its O&M through transfer of technology from the Republic of Korea.

PM Modi lauds significant decline in Maternal Mortality Ratio

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the significant decline in the Maternal Mortality Ratio from 130 per lakh live births in 2014-16 to 97 per lakh live births in 2018-20. The Prime Minister emphasised that all aspects relating to women's empowerment remain very strong.


BIS signs MoU with top six engineering institutes of India 

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with top six engineering institutes of India for introducing Indian standards as an integral part of the curriculum. This initiative is towards institutionalizing engagement of BIS with the eminent institutes for securing active participation of academia.

The establishment will promote excellence and leadership in teaching and research & development in the field of Science and various disciplines in the respective institutes.


Indian Air Force's Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise Samanvay-2022 Culminates 

The Annual Joint Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise 'Samanvay 2022' was conducted by the Indian Air Force at Air Force Station, Agra from 28 November 2022 to 30 November 2022. Various stakeholders from the country and representatives from ASEAN member countries participated in the exercise.

Exercise 'Samanvay 2022: Aims

With an aim to assess the efficacy of institutional Disaster Management structures and contingency measures, the exercise will comprise a seminar on Disaster Management, a 'Multi Agency Exercise' involving static and flying displays of various HADR assets and a 'Tabletop Exercise'.
