National Small Industries Corporation signs MoU with Walmart
The National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Walmart Global Sourcing India Private Limited.
Key Highlights
Through this MoU NSIC will be able to extend the NSIC schemes and other services to MSMEs who would participate in various Vriddhi program. Moreover, the MSMEs would get the exposure to various advantages of gaining working capital, bulk procurement support etc. under various opportunities offered by NSIC.
MSMEs who are part of the NSIC ecosystem will also be linked to the Vriddhi program in relevant clusters and get access to existing business training content, advisory support, tools and knowledge under the program – “free of cost”. The MoU will play a critical role in enabling MSME’s reach $2 trillion worth of exports by 2030.
Indian Army Vice Chief Lt Gen BS Raju on a three-day visit to Malaysia
Lieutenant General BS Raju, the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) has proceeded on a three day visit to Malaysia from 08 to 10 December 2022.
Key Highlights
During the visit, the Vice Chief will take forward the excellent defence cooperation between India and Malaysia through multiple meetings with senior military and civilian leadership of the country.
The VCOAS is scheduled to call on the Deputy Chief of Malaysian Army and Chief of Staff of Malaysian Armed Forces, where he will exchange ideas on issues of mutual interest. He will also engage in extensive discussions with the CEO Malaysian Institute of Defence & Strategic Studies. On 09 November 2022, the VCOAS will witness various training activities of the ongoing joint ‘Exercise HARIMAU SHAKTI’ and interact with the troops.
FDI grows from USD 45.15 billion in 2014-2015 to USD 84.84 billion in 2021-22
The reforms taken by the Government have resulted in increased Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows in the country. FDI inflows in India stood at US $ 45.15 billion in 2014-2015 and have continuously increased since then, and India registered its highest ever annual FDI inflow of US$ 84.84 billion (provisional figures) in the financial year 2021-22, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Parkash said in reply to a parliament question.
Govt proposes to set up more nuclear power plants for augmenting production of clean energy
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh said, Government proposes to set up more nuclear power plants for augmenting production of clean energy.
The government has also accorded in principle approval for five new sites for setting up nuclear power plants in the future.
DPIIT recognizes 59,787 entities as startups in the last 5 years
In the last five years (years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021) 59,787 entities were recognised as startups by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Som Parkash said in reply to a parliament question.
Under Startup India Initiative, entities are recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) as startups as per eligibility conditions prescribed under G.S.R. notification 127 (E) dated 19th February, 2019. As on 30th November 2022, 84,102 entities have been recognised as startups by the DPIIT.
President of India to visit Uttarakhand from 8 to 9 Dec 2022
The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu will visit Uttarakhand from December 8 to 9, 2022.

On December 8, 2022, the President Droupadi Murmu will attend a civic reception to be hosted by the Government of Uttarakhand in Dehradun. She will also virtually inaugurate/lay foundation stones for various projects of Uttarakhand related to energy, education, roads, transport and urban development.
On December 9, 2022, the President Droupadi Murmu will address the valedictory function of the 97th Common Foundation Course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie. On the same day, she will also grace the annual convocation of Doon University at Dehradun.
