Govt extends term of RBI Deputy Governor Michael Patra for one more year
The government of India (GOI) has extended the tenure of Dr Michael Debabrata Patra as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for one more year with effect from 15 January 2023.
Dr Michael Debabrata Patra took over as Deputy Governor of the RBI on January 15 2020. He was an Executive Director of India's central bank before being elevated to the post of Deputy Governor.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed, by an order dated January 02, 2023, a monetary penalty of ₹1.00 lakh (Rupees One lakh only) on Shree Mahayogi Lakshmamma Cooperative Bank Ltd., Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh for non-compliance with directions issued by RBI on Income Recognition, Asset Classification, Provisioning and Other Related Matters – Urban Co-operative Banks (UCBs).

Key Highlights
The new avatar of Light and Sound Show at Red Fort titled ‘Jai Hind’ is a dramatic presentation of the bravery and the history of India from the 17th century to the present day. The one-hour long Light and Sound Show ‘Jai Hind’ is divided into three parts.
The show brought life key episodes from India’s history including the rise of the Marathas, the 1857 War of Independence, the rise of the Indian National Army and the INA trials, the fight for Independence and India’s continuing progress over the past 75 years by using all forms of performance art - projection mapping, live action films, light and immersive sound, actors, dancers and puppets. The 3-part show was showcased at different monuments inside Red Fort starting with Naubatkhana to Deewan–e- Aam to Deewan-e-Khas.
