India, Egypt sign MoU on Cultural Cooperation 

To strengthen the cultural ties with Egypt, the Ministry of Culture signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cultural cooperation between India and Egypt.

The MoU Signed by Key Highlights

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed and exchanged on 25.01.2023 by G. Kishan Reddy, Culture Minister of India and Sameh Hassan Shoukry, Foreign Minister of Egypt in the presence of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt.

India, Japan Joint Air Defence Exercise VEER GUARDIAN 2023 

The inaugural edition of the bilateral air exercise 'Veer Guardian 2023' between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Japan Air Self Defence Force (JASDF) concluded in Japan, on 26 January 2023.

Exercise VEER GUARDIAN 2023: Participate by 

The Japan Air Self Defence Force (JASDF) participated in the exercise with its F-2 and F-15 aircraft, while the IAF contingent participated with the Su-30 MKI aircraft. The IAF fighter contingent was complemented by one IL-78 Flight Refueling Aircraft and two C-17 Globemaster strategic airlift transport aircraft.

Exercise VEER GUARDIAN 2023: Key Highlights

Exercise 'Veer Guardian 2023' provided the two Air Forces with an opportunity to enhance mutual understanding. The exercise also witnessed numerous ground interactions between IAF and JASDF personnel wherein various aspects were discussed by both sides.

This enabled the participating contingents to obtain an invaluable insight into each other's best practices and learn from each other’s unique capabilities.


India, South Africa sign MoU to introduce 12 African Cheetahs annually  

India and South Africa on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to introduce 12 African Cheetahs annually over the next eight to ten year.

In terms of the agreement, an initial batch of 12 cheetahs will be flown from South Africa to India next month. The cats will join eight Cheetah brought in India from Namibia last year.

The initiative to reintroduce cheetah to a former range state is being carried out following the local extinction of this iconic species due to over hunting and loss of habitat in the last century. The terms of the MoU will be reviewed every five years to ensure it remains relevant.


Telugu Actress Jamuna passes away at 87 

Veteran telugu film actress and former Lok Sabha MP from Rajahmundry, Jamuna passed away in Hyderabad, Telangana. She was 86.

Jamuna was a contemporary to eminent and popular actors N T Ramarao and Nageswar Rao and acted in about 200 films in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi.


Aadhaar e-KYC transactions jump 18.53% to 84.8 crore in Q3 of FY 2022-23 

Adoption of Aadhaar based e-KYC is witnessing a continuous progress, and in the October-December quarter (Q3) of FY 2022-23, more than 84.8 crore e-KYC transactions were executed using Aadhaar, a growth of 18.53% over the Q2 (July-Sept) of the current financial year.

In December alone 32.49 crore e-KYC transactions were carried out using Aadhaar, over 13% more than the previous month.

Aadhaar e-KYC service is increasingly playing an important role for banking and non-banking financial services by providing transparent and improved customer experience, and helping in ease of doing business.

In October, the number of Aadhaar e-KYC transactions were 23.56 crore and in November such transactions went up to 28.75 crore, before jumping further in December, indicating its growing usage and utility in the economy.

169 entities including 105 banks are live on e-KYC. Adoption of e-KYC has also significantly reduced customer acquisition cost of entities like financial institutions, telecom service providers and others.


Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates National Logistics Portal (MARINE)

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday inaugurated the National Logistics Portal (MARINE) in New Delhi. It is a one-stop platform aimed at connecting all the stakeholders of the logistics community using IT. This will improve efficiency and transparency by reducing costs and promote the growth of the logistics sector.
