Anil Kumar Lahoti takes charge as Chairman & CEO, Railway Board
Anil Kumar Lahoti has taken over the charge of new Chairman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Railway Board (Ministry of Railways). The appointments committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Anil Kumar Lahoti as Chairman & CEO of Railway Board. Prior to this, Shri Anil Kumar Lahoti has worked as Member (Infrastructure), Railway Board.

Anil Kumar Lahoti belongs to Indian Railway Service of Engineers, 1984 batch and has been empanelled in the first panel of Indian Railways Management Service for Level-17.
Anil Kumar Lahoti has graduated in Civil Engineering with Gold Medal from Madhav Institute of Technology and Science, Gwalior and did his Master of Engineering (Structures) from University of Roorkee (IIT, Roorkee). During his more than 36 years of career in railways, he has worked in various capacities over Central, Northern, North Central, Western and West Central Railways and in Railway Board.
Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha assumes IAF'S Western Air Command
Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha assumed command of the Indian Air Force’s Western Air Command on 01 January 2023. Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha succeeds Air Marshal S Prabhakaran who superannuated on 31 December 2022 after putting in more than 39 years of distinguished service in the IAF.

The Air Marshal is a graduate of National Defence Academy, Pune and was commissioned into the IAF as a fighter pilot in Jun 1985. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. An experienced fighter pilot, Category ‘A’ Qualified Flying Instructor, Fighter Striker Leader, Instrument Rating Instructor & Examiner, Air Marshal Sinha has more than 4500 hours of flying experience.
GST Revenue collection for December 2022 crosses 1.49 lakh crore, records increase of 15% Year-on-Year
The gross GST revenue collected during December 2022 is Rs 1,49,507 crore, of which CGST is Rs 26,711 crore, SGST is Rs 33,357 crore, IGST is Rs 78,434 crore (including Rs 40,263 crore collected on import of goods) and Cess is Rs 11,005 crore (including Rs 850 crore collected on import of goods).
The Government has settled Rs 36,669 crore to CGST and Rs 31,094 crore to SGST from IGST as regular settlement. The total revenue of Centre and the States after regular settlements in the month of December 2022 is Rs 63,380 crore for CGST and Rs 64,451 crore for the SGST.
The revenues for the month of December 2022 are 15% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year. During the month, revenues from import of goods were 8% higher and the revenues from domestic transactions (including import of services) were 18% higher than the revenues from these sources during the same month last year. During the month of November, 2022, 7.9 crore e-way bills were generated, which was significantly higher than 7.6 crore e-way bills generated in October, 2022.

Veteran bureaucrat Manjula Subramaniam passed away due to health complications at a hospital in Vadodara, Gujarat. She was 74.
Dr. Manjula Subramaniam was the first woman Chief Secretary of the state of Gujarat and she is a 1972 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Gujarat cadre.
Dr. Manjula Subramaniam was appointed as the first woman Chief Secretary of Gujarat in 2008-09, when Narendra Modi, now the Prime Minister of India, was the Chief Minister of the state.
Tripura revenue minister N C Debbarma passes away at 84
Tripura revenue minister and the chief of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ally Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), Narendra Chandra Debbarma passed away. He was 84.
