First G-20 International Financial Architecture Working Group Meeting held in Chandigarh   

The first International Financial Architecture Working Group meeting of G-20 under the chairmanship of India will be held in Chandigarh on 30-31 January 2023.

G-20 International Financial Architecture Working Group Meeting: Aims 

The International Financial Architecture Working Group is one of the important working groups under the G-20 finance track, which focuses on strengthening international financial architecture. It will also aim to address various challenges faced by vulnerable countries.

Key Highlights

Around 100 delegates from G-20 member nations, invited countries and international organizations will participate in the two-day meeting.

Discussions during the two-day meeting will be jointly moderated by the Ministry of Finance and the Reserve Bank of India, as well as by the co-chairs of the International Financial Architecture Working Group, - France and South Korea......Read More


G20: Science 20 Inception Meeting begins in Puducherry today 

The Science-20 (S-20) Inception Meeting is scheduled to take place in Puducherry during 30-31 January 2023.

Co-chaired by 

The meeting is Co-Chaired by Prof Ashutosh Sharma, President, Indian National Science Academy (INSA). Indonesia and Brazil are Troika members along with India during India’s G20 Presidency.
 

Theme 

The theme for Science-20 this year is Disruptive Science for Innovative and Sustainable Development. Under this broad theme, the subsequent meetings of the S20 will focus on three areas: clean energy for a greener future, universal holistic health, and connecting science to society and culture. The venues for the subsequent meetings include Agartala (Tripura), Bangaram Island (Lakshadweep), and Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh). The final summit meeting will take place in Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu).

Participate by

A total of 15 foreign delegates from 11 G20 countries Australia, Brazil, China, European Union, France, India, Republic of Korea, Türkiye, Russia, United Kingdom, and United States of America are participating in the Inception meeting. About 50 delegates, special invitees from various research and academic institutions across India are also participating in the Puducherry S20 Inception meeting.


First G20 Energy Transition Working Group Meeting to be held in Bengaluru from Feb 5-7 

The first G20 Energy Transition Working Group (ETWG) Meeting under India’s Presidency will be held in Bengaluru, from Feb 5-7, 2023.

Participate by

The meeting will have over 150 participants including G20 member countries, nine special invitee guest countries – Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, UAE and Spain.

In addition, leading international organizations such as The World Bank, Asian Development Bank, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), International Energy Agency (IEA), Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM), United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), International Solar Alliance (ISA), United Nations International Development Organization (UNIDO), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), RD20 and knowledge partners will be part of the Meeting. Senior government officials from the concerned Ministries will also participate in the ETWG Meeting.


MeitY, Meta announce list of 120 startups, innovators for XR Startup Programme 

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Meta have announced the list of 120 startups and innovators for the XR Startup Programme in New Delhi.

The Programme includes an Accelerator and a Grand Challenge, aiming towards boosting the emerging Tech ecosystem in the country.


ONGC’s iconic Sagar Samrat re-dedicated to the nation as Mobile Offshore Production Unit 

'Re-coronation of Sagar Samrat is a testament to the courage and willingness to make a difference in the face of uncertainties and the tumultuous forces of nature through re-alignment and innovation', said the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep S. Puri while re-dedicating Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC) iconic drilling rig Sagar Samrat, as a Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU) to the nation.

In a tweet, the Minister said, “Sagar Samrat now rules the sea as a Mobile Offshore Production Unit. Joined energy soldiers of ONGC At the re-coronation of a valuable asset. Sagar Samrat Rig built in 1973 was instrumental in 14 key offshore oil & gas discoveries & drilled around 125 wells.”


Ministry of Education releases All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2020-2021 

Education (AISHE) 2020-2021. The Ministry has been conducting All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) since 2011, covering all higher educational institutions located in Indian Territory and imparting higher education in the country. 

The survey collects detailed information on different parameters such as student enrollment, teacher’s data, infrastructural information, financial information etc. For the first time, in AISHE 2020-21, HEIs have filled data using an entirely online data collection platform through the Web Data Capture Format (DCF) developed by the Department of Higher Education through the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

India beat England to win ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup title 2023

Germany beat Belgium 5-4 in penalty shootout to win FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 

In the FIH Hockey World Cup, Germany have clinched the World Cup after 17 years beating Belgium 5-4 in a penalty shootout, after the game ended 3-3 in the final at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Germany now have won the World Cup three times, first in 2002 and second in 2006.


5th Khelo India Youth Games 2022 to be held in Madhya Pradesh

The fifth edition of Khelo India Youth Games 2022 will begin in Madhya Pradesh from today.

The Khelo India Youth Games 2022 will be held at 23 venues in eight cities of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Mandla, Balaghat and Maheshwar of the state in which nearly 6,000 athletes will take part in 27 different sports.
