K. Rajaraman launches IEEE C-DOT Certified Telecom Expert Program (ICCTEP)

The Secretary (Telecom), Government of India & the Chairman, Digital Communications Commission K. Rajaraman launched the ‘IEEE C-DOT Certified Telecom Expert Program (ICCTEP)’ which was collaborated by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and C-DOT (Centre for Development of Telematics) to bring learning in the areas of Telecom including 5G, Cyber Security and Quantum Communication to bridge the skill gap.

This program was launched during the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) Workshop centred on “Next Generation Connectivity.

The aim of this collaboration is to jointly create telecommunication courses, promote and train students and professionals, create job opportunities, and bridge the digital divide.

Union Minister of State for I&B L. Murugan to visit Sri Lanka

Minister of State Information & Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan will be on a visit to Sri Lanka from 9-12 February 2023 to participate in the dedication of Jaffna Cultural Centre constructed with Government of India Grant, to the people of Sri Lanka. The Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone for the Centre in March 2015.

During the visit, Dr Murugan would visit various sites that underline the scale and extent of Government of India’s people-centric development partnership in Sri Lanka. He will also interact with a cross-section of leaders and stakeholders during the visit.

Jaffna Cultural Center is a magnificent example of India-Sri Lanka development partnership. It was conceived as a reconciliation project primarily aimed at expanding cultural infrastructure for people of Northern Province. This state-of-the-art facility consists of multiple facilities such as a museum of two floors, an advanced theatre style auditorium for more than 600 people, a 11-storeyed learning tower; a public square which could also act as an amphitheater etc.

Australia's Aaron Finch announces retirement from International Cricket

Australia's T20 World Cup-winning captain Aaron Finch has announced his retirement from the T20Is, this brings an end to his international cricket career for Australia spanning 12 years. Earlier, the opening batsman had announced retirement from the 50-over format in September last year. Finch also played five Test matches for Australia.

Finch has played five Tests, 146 ODIs and 103 T20 matches in his international career. He has captained Australia in 76 T20 matches.
