RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das bags 'Governor Of The Year' award 

Governor of the Year Award 2023: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor, Shaktikanta Das, has been named Governor of the Year by the Central Banking Awards 2023.

Central banking gave him the award for leading the financial market through the turmoil of the pandemic and the Ukraine war. Earlier, former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan was honored with this award for the first time in the year 2015.

PM Modi - PM Hasina to jointly inaugurate India-Bangladesh Friendship pipeline

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh, will inaugurate the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline on 18 March 2023 (today) via video-conference.

India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline  

This is the first cross border energy pipeline between India and Bangladesh, built at an estimated cost of INR 377 crore, of which the Bangladesh portion of the pipeline built at a cost of approx. INR 285 crore, has been borne by the Government of India under grant assistance.

The Pipeline has a capacity to transport 1 Million Metric Ton Per Annum (MMTPA) of High-Speed Diesel (HSD). It will supply High Speed Diesel initially to seven districts in northern Bangladesh.

The operation of India- Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline will put in place a sustainable, reliable, cost-effective and environment friendly mode of transporting HSD from India to Bangladesh and will further enhance cooperation in energy security between the two countries.


Ministry of Steel signs MoU with various companies under PLI scheme  

Ministry of Steel today signed MoUs with selected companies under the Production-linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for specialty steel in New Delhi.

A total of 57 MoUs with 27 companies were signed during the event. Production-Linked Incentive scheme aims to boost domestic manufacturing and cut down import bills by encouraging local companies to set up or expand existing manufacturing units.


VVGNLI and ASSOCHAM sign MoU to promote advocacy for labour and employment related policies and reforms 

V.V. Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI), an autonomous body of Ministry of Labour & Employment and Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) have entered into a strategic alliance by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The strategic alliance between the two organisations aims to promote professional and organisational development in labour and employment-related areas by jointly identifying and executing developmental initiatives that benefit stakeholders in the sector.

Objective 

The objective of the alliance is to leverage the respective expertise of both organisations and collaborate on initiatives related to education, research, training, and other activities that promote the fair and transparent implementation of labour reforms which are led by the government. The synergy seeks to emanate the beneficial impact of an increased alignment to India’s international commitment to labour laws and welfare in context of global policy standards and benchmark practices. 

The partnership is non-binding and non-exclusive, and both organisations are committed to working together in a flexible and cooperative manner towards protection of labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments of workers, including migrant and women workers in India.


India, Sri Lanka to inaugurate exhibition 'Geoffrey Bawa: It is Essential to be There' 

The National Gallery of Modern Art and the High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Delhi will inaugurate the exhibition 'Geoffrey Bawa: It is essential to be There'.

The exhibition is scheduled till the 7th of May this year. This will be the first major exhibition to draw from the archives and look at the Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa’s practice.


Two day SCO Tourism Ministers’ meeting begins in Varanasi 

The two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Tourism Ministers’ Meeting has begun in Varanasi, UttarPradesh. The Joint Action Plan on the Development of Cooperation in Tourism would be adopted during the meeting.

The Joint Action Plan will include actions relating to the promotion of the SCO tourism brand, the promotion of the cultural heritage of the SCO Member States, sharing and exchange of information and digital technology in tourism, and the promotion of mutual cooperation in medical and health tourism.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental organization comprising eight Member States China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, four Observer States and six “Dialogue Partners”.

Startup20 Engagement Group meeting to be held in Sikkim 

The second meeting of the Startup20 Engagement group, newly formed under India’s G20 Presidency, will be held in Gangtok, Sikkim from 18 - 19 March 2023.

The meeting will invite delegates from G20 member and invitee countries, representatives from multilateral organisations, and stakeholders from the Indian startup ecosystem.


10% reservation in CISF for ex Agniveers: Govt 

The Union Home Ministry has announced a 10 percent reservation for former Agniveers in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Former Agniveers would get relaxation in the upper age limit and will also be exempted from Physical Efficiency Test.

Earlier, 10 per cent reservation was announced by the Ministry for ex-Agniveers in Border Security Force (BSF).


Health Minister flags off 75 Trucks for countrywide awareness drive to eliminate TB

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya flagged off 75 trucks with TB awareness messages across the country at the Partnership for Action against Tuberculosis (PAcT) event in New Delhi.

Under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the Minister also distributed Nutritional Baskets to TB patients at the event.
