Dinesh K Tripathi takes over as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, WNC 

Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM took over as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Western Naval Command (WNC) from Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC at an impressive Ceremonial Parade held at INS Shikra on 28 February 2023.

Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi 

Prior to taking over as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Vice Admiral Tripathi served as the Chief of Personnel at the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Navy).

An alumnus of Sainik School Rewa and National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, he was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 1985.


GST Revenue collection for February 2023 crosses 1.49 lakh crore, up 12% YoY 

The gross GST revenue collected in the month of February 2023 is ₹1,49,577 crore of which CGST is ₹27,662 crore, SGST is ₹34,915 crore, IGST is ₹75,069 crore (including ₹35,689 crore collected on import of goods) and Cess is ₹11,931 crore (including ₹792 crore collected on import of goods)

The government has settled ₹34,770 crore to CGST and ₹29,054 crore to SGST from IGST as regular settlement. The total revenue of Centre and the States after regular settlements in the month of February 2023 is ₹62,432 crore for CGST and ₹63,969 crore for the SGST. In addition, Centre had also released the balance GST compensation of ₹16,982 crore for the month of June 2022 and ₹16,524 crore to States/UTs which have sent AG certified figures for the previous period.

The revenues for the month of February 2023 are 12% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year, which was Rs. 1,33,026 crore.....Read More

India, Lithuania agree to work in the areas of deep tech Start 

India and the Republic of Lithuania agreed to work in the areas of deep tech Start-Ups and also forge lasting ties in manufacturing of semiconductor chips.

A High-level Lithuanian Delegation led by its Vice-Minister of the Economy and Innovation Karolis Žemaitis today called on Union Minister for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh in North Block in New Delhi and discussed ways and means to revive the 2010 Agreement in the area of Science and Technology.


India wins GSMA Government Leadership Award 2023 

GSM Association (GSMA) has conferred Government Leadership Award 2023 to India for implementing best practices in telecom policy and regulation.

GSMA, which represents more than 750 mobile operators and 400 companies in the telecom ecosystem, recognizes one country every year. India was declared winner in the ceremony held at Mobile World Congress Barcelona on 27 February, 2023.


2nd B20 inception meeting to be held in Aizawl from 1-3 March 

The second Business 20 (B20) inception meeting will be held in Aizawl from 1st to 3rd March 2023. Business 20 (B20) is the official G20 dialogue forum for the global business community.

Key Highlights   

The B20 event at Aizawl, slated for 1-3 March, will highlight the opportunities for multilateral business partnerships that the state can offer to delegates in urban planning, infrastructure, bamboo, startups, skill development, nursing, and paramedics.

This three day event is expected to see around 500 participants ranging from Ministers, senior Government officials, diplomats and representatives from the business community.

The Second G20 Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group (ECSWG) meeting will be held at Gandhinagar from 27-29 March 2023.

The Second ECSWG will commence with a side event on water resources management wherein presentations on Best Practices in Water Resources Management by G20 member countries will take place.

Theme

The theme of the Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group is Accelerating Ecosystem Restoration and Enriching Biodiversity; Promoting a Sustainable and Climate Resilient Blue Economy; and Encouraging Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy will take place.


NSDC Signs MoU with HTMi to empower youth for the hospitality & tourism Sector 

To give a boost to skill development initiatives in hospitality sector and make apprenticeship aspirational to the professionals, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and with due support
from Ministry of Tourism signed an MoU with Switzerland based Hotel and Tourism Management Institute (HTMi) to jointly provide certificate, diploma, advance diploma and certification courses in hospitality trades to the aspiring students. Also, a tri-party MoU was signed by NSDC, HTMi and Lamrin Tech Skill University (LTSU).


200 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions carried out in January 2023 

Aadhaar holders have carried out over 9029.28 crore authentication transactions so far including 199.62 crore in January 2023 alone, indicative of the growth of digital economy in the country.

While a majority of the authentications transaction numbers were carried out by using biometric fingerprint, it is followed by demographic and OTP authentications. In the month of January, 135.53 crore biometric fingerprint-based authentications were carried out, an indication of its usage and utility in the daily lives of residents.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has already rolled out a new security mechanism for Aadhaar based fingerprint authentication. The artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) based security mechanism developed in-house is now using a combination of both finger minutiae and finger image to check the liveness of the finger print captured.


25 crore health records of individuals linked to their ABHA ID for anytime access

The National Health Authority (NHA) under its flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) has achieved another milestone in building a digitally connected healthcare ecosystem. Over 25 crore health records of individuals have been linked to their ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account).

Key Highlights  

These records can be easily accessed and managed by the individuals using any of the ABDM-enabled health apps. The digitally available health records will enable the ABHA holders in availing paper-less health services across the ABDM network.

Individuals can use their Personal Health Records (PHR) apps to access their records across different health facilities like hospitals, clinics, diagnostic labs etc. and store them in the app. They can digitally share the relevant records with verified healthcare providers over the ABDM network.

This enables completely paperless exchange of records in a secure manner while doing away with the hassles of searching for physical medical documents or worry of losing old records. The healthcare providers get consented access to detailed patient history, thereby helping them in better clinical decision making.
