Manmeet K Nanda appointed as MD & CEO of Invest India  

Manmeet K Nanda has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Invest India.

India-Jordan 2nd Consultative Meeting on Defence Cooperation held in New Delhi 

The second Consultative Meeting on Defence Cooperation between India and Jordan was held in New Delhi.

India-Jordan discussed a range of issues including military training and courses, Cyber Security, military exercises, military medicine and capacity building in various areas to enhance defence engagements.

Both sides also exchanged their respective capabilities in defence industry and research & development for forging collaborations in mutually beneficial areas.

G20 Summit in India 2023: The second G20 Tourism Working Group Meeting will be held in Siliguri/Darjeeling, West Bengal from 1st to 3rd April 2023.

Second G20 Tourism Working Group Meeting: Key Highlights  

The five priorities of Tourism Working Group, Green Tourism, Digitalization, Skills, Tourism MSMEs, Destination Management were introduced in the 1st Tourism Working Group Meeting and were endorsed by all the G20 Members, Invitee Countries, and International Organizations.

The second TWG meeting, all the G20 Members, Invitee Countries and International Organizations will be discussing deeper and broader aspects of the five priorities of the Tourism Working Group.

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is hosting a Side Event on ‘Adventure Tourism as a vehicle for achieving Sustainable Development Goals’. Seven North-eastern states will give presentations on adventure Tourism in the side event.


India participates in 2nd Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Negotiating Round, Bali 

An Inter-Ministerial delegation from India led by Department of Commerce participated in the second Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) negotiating round in Bali, Indonesia from March 13-19, 2023.

2nd Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Negotiating Round: Participate by  

Negotiators from 13 other countries, including, the United States, Australia, Brunei Darussalam, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam also participated in the Bali negotiating round.

Discussions 2nd Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Negotiating Round

During the Bali Round, discussions covered all the four pillars of the IPEF: Trade (Pillar I); Supply Chains (Pillar II); Clean Economy (Pillar III); and Fair Economy (Taxation & Anticorruption) - (Pillar IV). India participated in the discussions related to Pillars II to IV.


RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das lays Foundation Stone of New Greenfield Data Centre 

Shaktikanta Das, Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) laid the foundation stone for establishment of a “Greenfield Data Centre’ and ‘Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute’ in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The New Data Centre and the Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute spread over an area of 18.55 acres, when commissioned, will cater to the emerging requirements of the Reserve Bank and the financial sector.


Income tax department launches mobile app AIS for Taxpayers 

The Income Tax Department has launched a free of cost Mobile app namely AIS for taxpayers. It will facilitate the taxpayers to view their information as available in the Annual Information Statement (AIS) and Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS).

In the AIS app, they can view various information related to TDS, interest, share transactions, tax payments, Income Tax refunds and GST Data among others.


PM Modi inaugurates ITU Area Office & Innovation Center 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Area office & Innovation Centre in India at a programme in Vigyan Bhawan.

PM Modi also unveiled the Bharat 6G Vision Document and launched the 6G R&D Test Bed. He also launched the ‘Call before u Dig’ App. ITU is the United Nations' specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs).

India signed a Host Country Agreement in March 2022 with ITU for the establishment of Area Office. It will serve India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Afghanistan and Iran, enhancing coordination among nations and fostering mutually beneficial economic cooperation in the region.

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Area office 

ITU is the United Nations’ specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs). Headquartered in Geneva, it has a network of field offices, regional Offices and area offices. India signed a Host Country Agreement in March 2022 with ITU for the establishment of Area Office. 

The Area Office in India is also envisaged to have an Innovation Centre embedded in it making it unique among other area offices of ITU. The Area Office, which is fully funded by India, is located on the second floor of the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) building at Mehrauli New Delhi. It will serve India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Afghanistan and Iran, enhancing coordination among nations and fostering mutually beneficial economic cooperation in the region.

Bharat 6G vision document  

Bharat 6G vision document is prepared by the Technology Innovation Group on 6G (TIG-6G) that was constituted in November 2021 with members from various Ministries/Departments, research and development institutions, academia, standardization bodies, Telecom Service Providers and industry to develop a roadmap and action plans for 6G in India. 6G Test Bed will provide academic institutions, industries, start-ups, MSMEs etc. a platform to test and validate the evolving ICT technologies. 

The Bharat 6G Vision Document and 6G Test Bed will provide an enabling environment for innovation, capacity building and faster technology adoption in the country.


PM Modi to visit Varanasi on 24th March 2023 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on 24th March 2023. PM Modi will address the One World TB Summit at Rudrakash Convention Centre. PM Modi will dedicate and lay the foundation stone of various projects worth more than Rs. 1780 crores at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University ground.

India's shooter Sarabjot Singh won the gold medal while Varun Tomar finished with bronze in the men's 10m Air Pistol event at the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup 2023 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
