IMF cuts India's FY24 GDP forecast to 5.9% from 6.1% 

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has cut its GDP growth forecast for India for the financial year 2023-24 by 20 basis points to 5.9 percent from 6.1%.

The latest forecast is lower than the Reserve Bank of India's projection of 6.4 per cent. India continues to be the fastest-growing major economy in the world.

EAM S Jaishankar launches 'Tulsi Ghat Restoration Project' in Uganda 

During his visit to Uganda's Kampala, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar launched the 'Tulsi Ghat Restoration Project' of Varanasi. Dr. Jaishankar commended the Overseas Friends of BJP-Uganda for their efforts to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the oldest inhabited city in the world.

Uganda has been selected to chair the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for the period of 2022 to 2025 on behalf of Africa.


SCO Young Authors’ Conference held in New Delhi 

Minister of State for Culture Smt. Meenakashi Lekhi inaugurated the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Young Authors’ Conference in New Delhi.

The Conference has been organised by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India on 12-13 April 2023 at The Leela Palace, New Delhi, with National Book Trust India as the Implementing Agency.

Theme 

The theme of the Conference is Civilizational Dialogue amongst the SCO member nations –Perspectives from Young Scholars, with the sub-themes of History & Philosophy, Economy, Religion, Culture, Literature and Science & Medicine.

Key Highlights

The two-day SCO Young Authors’ Conference will provide a dynamic platform to explore the avenues of modern education, training and advanced training of youth, wider involvement in entrepreneurial activities and innovative projects.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental organisation founded in Shanghai on 15 June 2001. The SCO currently comprises eight Member States (China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan).


Second Women20 International Meeting begins in Jaipur 

The two-day 2nd Women 20 (W20) International meeting will be held in Jaipur from today. The meeting will bring together 120 women leaders from across 18 G20 countries to address gender inequality issues and promote women’s economic empowerment globally.


Nilesh Sambare honored with the Maratha Udyog Ratna 2023 

Nilesh Bhagwan Sambare, the founder of Jijau Educational and Social Foundation was awarded the Maratha Udyog Ratna in the Maratha Entrepreneurs Conference 2023.

Billionaire Keshub Mahindra passes away at 99 

The Chairman Emeritus of Mahindra and Mahindra, Mr. Keshub Mahindra passed away. He was 99.

An alumnus of Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, Keshub Mahindra joined his father's company in 1947. He retired from the company in 2012 and handed the baton to his nephew Anand Mahindra.


Himachal Pradesh launched Sanjeevani Project for livestock healthcare 

Himachal Pradesh’s rural economy is heavily dependent on agriculture and animal husbandry, with livestock care being a crucial component of every household.

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Chief Minister of the Congress Government of Himachal Pradesh has started a new initiative called "Sanjeevani" to support the farmers.

Sanjeevani will enhance the lives of farmers by providing them convenient and quality care for livestock at their doorsteps utilizing telemedicine and technology.


PM Modi flags off Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express train 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express train via video conferencing.

The inaugural train will run between Jaipur and Delhi Cantt Railway Station. The regular service of this Vande Bharat Express will start from 13th April, 2023 and will operate between Ajmer and Delhi Cantt with stops at Jaipur, Alwar and Gurgaon.

Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express train: Key Highlights  

The new Vande Bharat Express train will cover the distance between Delhi Cantt. and Ajmer in 5 hours 15 minutes. The present fastest train in the same route, Shatabdi Express, takes 6 hours 15 minutes from Delhi Cantt. to Ajmer. Thus, the new Vande Bharat Express will be faster by 60 minutes as compared to the present fastest train running on the same route.

Ajmer-Delhi Cantt. Vande Bharat Express will be the world's first semi high speed passenger train on high rise overhead electric (OHE) territory. The train will improve connectivity of major tourist destinations in Rajasthan including Pushkar, Ajmer Sharif Dargah etc. Enhanced connectivity will also provide a boost to socio-economic development in the region.


HM Amit Shah to confer Maharashtra Bhushan on Appasaheb Dharmadhikari 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be in Mumbai on April 16 to conferred the ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ to Dattatreya Narayan Dharmadhikari, also known as Appasaheb Dharmadhikari.

The Maharashtra Bhushan Award consists of a medal, a citation and a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh.


Nisha Dahiya bags Silver in Asian Wrestling Championships 2023 in Kazakhstan

Indian wrestler Nisha Dahiya bagged silver medal at the Asian wrestling championships 2023 in Astana, Kazakhstan. Nisha has won this silver medal in the 68 kg category. Another Indian wrestler, Priya Malik clinched a bronze in the 76 kg category.
