President Droupadi Murmu confers Padma Awards 2023    

President Droupadi Murmu conferred Padma Awards for the year 2023, at the second Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Padma Vibhushan 2023 

Padma Vibhushan was given to ORS pioneer Dr Dilip Mahalanabis and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav posthumously.

Padma Bhushan Awards 2023 

President Droupadi Murmu presented Padma Bhushan to philanthropist Sudha Murthy, theoretical physicist Prof Deepak Dhar, Kannada author Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa and spiritual leader Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji. Legendary singer Vani Jairam was given Padma Bhushan posthumousl.

Padma Shri Awards 2023 

President Droupadi Murmu also conferred Padma Shri awards on Music composer MM Keeravani, Pithora painter Paresh Rathwa, Water Conservationist Umashankar Pandey, Sambalpuri Folk Singer Krishna Patel, Mathematician Sujatha Ramdorai, Educator Anand Kumar, actress Raveena Tandon and Medicinal plant farmer Pataet Kumar Sahu among others. Social worker Gajanan Jagannath Mane who has devoted his life to the rehabilitation of leprosy-affected people and Ajay Kumar Mandavi who is actively involved in rehabilitating former Maoists through Wood Carving Art were given Padma Shri.


Ministry of I&B signs partnership with Amazon India in field of Media, Entertainment and Public Awareness 

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry and Amazon India have signed a collaboration agreement in New Delhi to boost India's creative economy and promote creative talent in the country.

About Ministry of I&B and Amazon partnership  

The Letter of Engagement (LoE) leads to a multidimensional partnership between the various organizations under the Ministry and various verticals of Amazon. These include National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Prasar Bharati, Publications Division, and the media training institutions of Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) on the Government’s side. On Amazon's side, the LoE involves participation of Amazon Prime Video, Alexa, Amazon Music, Amazon e-marketplace, and IMDb.

Public Awareness

The Letter of Engagement with Amazon also includes aspects on promotion of Indian heritage through a dedicated catalogue of Publication Division’s books on India’s culture on the Amazon e-commerce website, and promotion of Indian music on Amazon Music and Alexa.


President Draupadi Murmu to visit Assam from 6-8 April 

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu will visit Assam from April 6 to 8, 2023.

On April 7, 2023, the President will inaugurate the Gaj Utsav-2023 at the Kaziranga National Park. Later at Guwahati, she will flag off the Mount Kanchenjunga Expedition-2023. On the same day, she will also grace the function being organized to mark the completion of 75 years of the Gauhati High Court at Guwahati.

On April 8, 2023, the President will make a sortie on the Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft at the Tezpur Air Force Station.


PM Modi to visit Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka on 8th-9th April 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka on 8th and 9th April, 2023.

Key Highlights  

On 8th April, 2023, PM Modi will reach Secunderabad Railway Station and flag off Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express train.

Prime Minister Modi will attend a public function at Parade Ground in Hyderabad, where he will lay the foundation stone of AIIMS Bibinagar, Hyderabad. He will lay the foundation stone of five National Highway projects. He will also lay the foundation stone of redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station and dedicate to the nation other development projects related to railways.

PM Modi will reach Chennai Airport, where he will inaugurate the New Integrated Terminal Building of Chennai Airport. The Prime Minister will flag off the Chennai-Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express at MGR Chennai Central Railway Station. He will also inaugurate and flag off other Railway projects during the Programme.

Prime Minister Modi will participate in the celebrations commemorating the 125th Anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna Math in Chennai. He will preside over a public programme at Alstrom cricket ground, Chennai, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of road projects.

On 9th April, 2023, PM Modi will visit Bandipur Tiger Reserve. He will also visit the Theppakadu Elephant camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. Thereafter, PM Modi will inaugurate the programme ‘Commemoration of 50 years of Project Tiger’ organised at Karnataka State Open University, Mysuru.


Sports Ministry approves proposal to financially assist 12 Para-Badminton players

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) in their recent meeting has approved the proposal to financially assist 12 Para-Badminton players to participate in the upcoming Brazil Para-Badminton International, which is a Level 2 event and part of the Paris Paralympics pathway for the year 2023.

The funding has been cleared under MYAS’s Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) and will cover financial assistance towards the participation of 12 para-badminton players and their support staff. 

The funding will cover athletes’ and the support staff’s travel, visa, and insurance costs, along with their boarding and lodging costs, their entry fees for the competition, and Out of Pocket Allowance (OPA) for other daily financial needs.
