Fitch Retains India's 'BBB-' Rating with Stable Outlook 

Global credit rating agency, Fitch has India's long-term foreign-currency issuer default rating (IDR) at 'BBB-' with a Stable outlook, backed by robust growth outlook and abating core inflation pressure, but concerns of high deficits linger.

According to Fitch, strong growth potential is an important reason for the sovereign rating and India's growth is looking strong.


India extends $1 billion Credit Line to Sri Lanka for Essential Imports 

As a step to assist Sri Lanka in recovering from the severe financial crisis, India has extended a credit line of 1 billion USD to Sri Lanka by one year.

The credit line which was a part of the 4 billion USD emergency assistance provided by India during the peak of Sri Lanka's crisis last year, was originally set to end in March but has now been extended until March 2024.


RBI imposes ₹2 lakh penalty on The Trichur Urban Co-operative Bank 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹2.00 lakh (Rupees Two lakh only) on The Trichur Urban Co-operative Bank Limited Thrissur, Kerala for non-compliance with directions issued by RBI on Management of Advance- Urban Co-operative Bank (UCBs).


President Droupadi Murmu confers 37 Gallantry awards - 8 Kirti Chakras & 29 Shaurya Chakras 

President Smt Droupadi Murmu, who is the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, conferred eight Kirti Chakras, including five posthumous, and 29 Shaurya Chakras, including five posthumous, to the personnel of the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces and State/Union Territory Police during Defence Investiture Ceremony (Phase-1) in New Delhi.

The Gallantry awards were given to the personnel for displaying conspicuous gallantry, indomitable courage and extreme devotion to duty.


ASEAN – India Maritime Exercise (AIME-2023) 

The inaugural ASEAN India Maritime Exercise (AIME-2023) successfully culminated in the South China Sea on 08 May 2023.

ASEAN India Maritime Exercise: Participate by 

Approximately 1400 personnel manning nine ships participated in the Sea Phase of the multilateral naval exercise AIME-2023.

India’s indigenously designed and built ships- destroyer INS Delhi & stealth frigate INS Satpura, maritime patrol aircraft P8I and integral helicopters exercised with ASEAN naval ships from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.


Sarbananda Sonowal receives the First Indian Cargo Ship at the Sittwe Port 

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport & Communications Admiral Tin Aung San of Myanmar jointly inaugurated the Sittwe Port in Rakhine State, Myanmar.

The operationalisation of Sittwe Port would enhance bilateral and regional trade as well as contribute to the local economy of Rakhine State of Myanmar. The greater connectivity provided by the Port will lead to employment opportunities and enhanced growth prospects in the region.


Renowned Bengali author Samaresh Majumdar passes away at 79 

Renowned Bengali author Samreash Majumdar passed away in Kolkata. He was 79. Writer-poet Samreash Majumdar won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1984 for 'Kalbela'.

In 2018, the Government of West Bengal honoured him with the 'Banga Vibhushan' award.


PM Modi to lay foundation stone of various infrastructure projects in Rajasthan 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rajasthan on 10th May 2023. PM Modi will visit Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara. He will dedicate and lay the foundation stone of various development initiatives in Nathdwara. Thereafter, Prime Minister Modi will visit the Shantivan complex of Brahma Kumaris in Abu Road.

Key Highlights 

Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth over Rs. 5500 crores. The focus of these projects will be on bolstering infrastructure and connectivity in the region. The projects of the road and railway sector will also facilitate the movement of goods and services, thereby boosting trade and commerce and improving the socio-economic conditions of the people in the region.

PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for road construction projects for upgradation to two-lane in Rajsamand and Udaipur.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for redevelopment of Udaipur railway station, to provide enhanced amenities for the public. He will also lay the foundation stone for gauge conversion project and for setting up of a new line from Nathdwara to Nathdwara town in Rajsamand.
