ICMR and AYUSH Ministry sign MoU on health research in Integrated Medicine  

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) under the Health Ministry and Ministry of AYUSH signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in health research in the field of Integrated Medicine.

The MoU envisages cooperation and collaboration between the Ministry of AYUSH and ICMR for exploring the areas of convergence and synergy between the two organizations for integrative health research and strengthening research capacity.


SC rules in favour of Delhi govt over control on civil services in National Capital 

The Supreme Court ruled in favour of the Delhi government over control on civil services in the national capital and held it must have control over bureaucrats.

Key Highlights with Details 

A 5-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud held that except in areas outside the legislative powers of the National Capital Territory (NCT), the legislature has control over bureaucrats in the administration of services.

There are three areas outside the control of the Delhi government: public order, police and land.


SCO Startup Forum 2023 held in New Delhi 

After two successful editions in virtual mode, Startup India, Department of Promotion for Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce organized the third edition in the form of first-ever physical Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Startup Forum in New Delhi.

SCO Startup Forum 2023: Key Highlights 

The engagement aimed at expanding the startup interactions amongst the SCO Member States, nurturing the spirit of innovation, generating more employment and encouraging young talent to build innovative solutions.

This engagement focused on the spirit of collaboration and entrepreneurship. It aimed at promoting innovation development, particularly through the creation of common platforms and the facilitation of ideas and best practices among the SCO Member States. Various startup-to-startup bilateral meetings were conducted in promoting and achieving this agenda.


Third G20 Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) meeting to be held in Mumbai from 15-17 May 

The 3rd Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting (ETWG) under India’s G20 Presidency will be held in Mumbai from 15th to 17th May 2023.

The three-day meeting will see over 100 delegates representing G20 member countries, special invitee countries and International Organisations such as International Energy Agency (IEA), Word Bank and World Energy Council India engaging in discussions and deliberation on Priority Areas.

Third G20 ETWG meeting: Priority 

The six priority areas, outlined under India’s Presidency, include (i) Energy transition through addressing technology gaps (ii) Low-cost financing for energy transition (iii) Energy security and diversified supply chains (iv) Energy efficiency, industrial low carbon transitions and responsible consumption, (v) Fuels for Future (3F) and (vi) Universal access to clean energy and just, affordable, and inclusive energy transition pathway.


Bangladesh to host Sixth Indian Ocean Conference in Dhaka 

Bangladesh will host the 6th International Indian Ocean Conference from 12 May 2023 in its capital Dhaka.

India will also be attending the event, which aims to bring together important maritime partners and regional states on a common stage to discuss the potential for regional cooperation for SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region).

Theme 

The theme of the 6th International Indian Ocean Conference this year is 'Peace, Prosperity and Partnership for a Resilient Future' in view of the post-Covid scenario and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.


Ministry of Ayush and ICMR sign MoU to promote and collaborate on integrative health research 

In a significant development a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Ayush and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to promote and collaborate on integrative health research.

This cooperation will focus on identified areas of national importance in healthcare for promoting high impact research to generate evidence utilizing modern scientific methods. This MoU will also strengthen research capacity through training of Ayush researchers

World Boxing Championships 2023: Indian boxers secure historic three medals 

Indian boxers have ensured three medals at the World Boxing Championships for the first time as they advanced to the semifinals in Tashkent. Deepak Bhoria in 51kg, Mohammed Hussamuddin in 57kg and Nishant Dev in 71kg won their quarterfinal bouts.


Atanu Das and Mehuli Ghosh re-included in Target Olympic Podium Scheme

Olympian Archer and World Championship Silver Medallist Atanu Das was re-inducted in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) after his recent performances at the domestic circuit and the Archery World Cup in Antalya this year.

Atanu, who had scored 673 points to claim the fourth spot in the Men’s Recurve individual rankings, was making a return to international outdoor competition after nearly one-and-a-half years.

Other big names to be included in TOPS is Rifle shooter Mehuli Ghosh who won the 10m Air Rifle event at the National Shooting Trials this year and 15-year-old Tilottama Sen who had earlier won the 10m Air Rifle event’s Bronze at Cairo World Cup this year, that too in her debut performance in the senior circuit. She also has Junior World Championships Bronze and Team Gold under her belt that she won in the year 2022.
