Govt appoints Ravneet Kaur as CCI Chairperson 

The government has appointed Ravneet Kaur as the chairperson of the Competition Commission of India (CCI). Ravneet is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Punjab cadre.

Ravneet Kaur will replace CCI member Sangeeta Verma who has been serving as the interim chairperson since October last year after Ashok Kumar Gupta stepped down.


Cabinet approves MoU between CCI and Egyptian Competition Authority 

The Union Cabinet has approved signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Competition Commission of India (CCI) and Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA).

The MoU envisages promotion and strengthening of cooperation in competition law and policy through exchange of information, sharing of best practices as well as through various capacity building initiatives.

Aims

The MoU also aims to develop and strengthen linkages between CCI and ECA, and learn and emulate from each other's experiences in the enforcement of competition law in their respective jurisdictions through experience sharing and technical cooperation......Read More


Cabinet approves signing of Project Collaboration Agreement between DHR & WHO on Assistive Technology 

The Union Cabinet has approved signing of Project Collaboration Agreement between the Department of Health Research (DHR) and the World Health Organization (WHO) on Assistive Technology.

The agreement was approved at the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

The Project Collaboration Agreement (PCA) was signed on 10.10.2022 by WHO and on 18.10.2022 by Department of Health Research (DHR).Read More

  • PLI Scheme 2.0 for IT hardware covers laptops, tablets, all-in-one PCs, servers and ultra small form factor devices
  • The budgetary outlay of the scheme is Rs. 17,000 crore
  • The tenure of this scheme is 6 years

Paytm appoints Bhavesh Gupta as President and COO 

One 97 Communications Ltd, the parent company of Paytm has appointed Bhavesh Gupta, Senior Vice President as President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the fintech major.

PM Modi to lay the foundation stone of various railway projects in Odisha 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and dedicate several railway projects worth more than Rs. 8000 crores in Odisha on 18th May 2023 via video conferencing.

PM Modi to flag off the Vande Bharat Express between Puri and Howrah 

Prime Minister Modi will also flag off the Vande Bharat Express train between Puri and Howrah. The train will pass through Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore districts in Odisha and Paschim Medinipur, Purba Medinipur districts in West Bengal. 

The Vande Bharat Express will provide faster, comfortable and convenient travel experience to the rail users, boost tourism and promote economic development in the region.

Key Highlights 

PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of redevelopment of Puri and Cuttack railway stations. The redeveloped stations will have all modern amenities providing world class experience to the rail passengers.

Prime Minister Modi will dedicate 100% electrification of the rail network in Odisha. This will reduce the operating and maintenance cost and reduce reliance on imported crude oil.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also dedicate the doubling of the Sambalpur-Titlagarh rail line; a new broad gauge rail line between Angul-Sukinda; the third line connecting Manoharpur-Rourkela-Jharsuguda-Jamga and new broad-gauge line between Bichhupali-Jhartarbha.

Uttar Pradesh Chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra inaugurated an online rural education programme ‘Pahal’ at Government UP Sainik Inter College, Sarojini Nagar.

This program has been developed by the Department of Secondary Education in collaboration with IIT Kanpur.
