GST Revenue collection for April 2023 crosses 1.87 lakh crore, highest ever   

GST revenue collection for April 2023 highest ever at Rs 1.87 lakh crore: The gross GST (Goods and Services Tax) revenue collection over ₹ 1,87,035 crore in April 2023 highest ever, GST revenues for April 2023 are 12% higher than the GST revenues Y-o-Y which is a good sign for the Indian economy.

The gross GST revenue collected in the month of April, 2023 is ₹ 1,87,035 crore of which CGST is ₹38,440 crore, SGST is ₹47,412 crore, IGST is ₹89,158 crore (including ₹34,972 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is ₹12,025 crore (including ₹901 crore collected on import of goods).

The government has settled ₹45,864 crore to CGST and ₹37,959 crore to SGST from IGST. The total revenue of Centre and the States in the month of April 2023 after regular settlement is ₹84,304 crore for CGST and ₹85,371 crore for the SGST.

ASEAN India Maritime Exercise AIME-2023 to be held from 2 to 8 May  

Indian Naval Ships Satpura and Delhi with Rear Admiral Gurcharan Singh, the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet embarked onboard arrived at Singapore on 01 May 2023 to participate in the Inaugural ASEAN India Maritime Exercise (AIME-2023) to be held from 02 to 08 May 2023.

The Harbour Phase of the exercise is scheduled to be held at Changi Naval Base from 02 to 04 May 2023 and the Sea Phase will be conducted from 07 to 08 May 2023 in the South China Sea. AIME 2023 will provide an opportunity for Indian Navy and ASEAN navies to work together closely and conduct seamless operations in the maritime domain.


Narmdeshwar Tiwari takes over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief South Western Air Command  

Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), South Western Air Command (SWAC) at Gandhinagar on 01 May 2023. He succeeds Air Marshal Vikram Singh, who superannuated on 30 Apr 2023.

About Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari

Prior to assuming charge as the AOC-in-C SWAC, the Air Marshal was Deputy Chief of the Air Staff at Air HQ(VB). For his distinguished service, he was awarded the 'Vayu Sena Medal' in 2008 and 'Ati Vishisht Seva Medal' in 2022.

Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari was commissioned in the Fighter Stream on 07 Jun 1986. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and passed out as the President Gold Medalist. He has flown over 3600 hours on various types of aircraft. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor as well as an Experimental Test Pilot.


Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari visits Sri Lanka

Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), embarked on a four-day official visit to Sri Lanka.

Key Highlights 

During the visit, the CAS is scheduled to meet the President of Sri Lanka, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, State Minister of Defence, Chief of the Defence Staff, the Commanders of Sri Lanka Air Force, Army & Navy, and the Defence Secretary.

The CAS is visiting Sri Lanka on the invitation of the Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal SK Pathirana. The visit of the CAS will enhance the existing professional ties and bonds of mutual cooperation between both the Nations.


Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh on 3 day visit to Maldives 

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh has reached Male, Maldives on a 3-day visit. During his official visit, Rajnath Singh will hold bilateral talks with his Maldivian counterpart Mariya Ahmed Didi and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid. The Minister will also call on Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.


India's coal production makes new record for highest production in April 2023 

India’s coal production has made a new record for highest production in April 2023 achieving over 73 million tonnes of coal with a growth of over eight per cent as compared to last year.

The Coal India Limited has reported production of over 57 million tonnes in April as compared to around 53 million tonnes in April 2022.


FM Sitharaman to attend 56th Annual General Meeting of Board of Directors of ADB in South Korea 

Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman will lead the Indian delegation to attend the 56th Annual General Meeting of the Board of Governors of Asian Development Bank (ADB) along with Investor/ Bilateral and other associated meetings, in Incheon, the Republic of Korea, from May 2-5, 2023.


NTPC and NPCIL sign agreement for joint development of Nuclear Power Plants 

NTPC Ltd. signed a Supplementary Joint Venture Agreement with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL) in New Delhi for development of Nuclear Power Projects.

Key Highlights 

Initially, the Joint Venture company shall develop two Pressurized Heavy-Water Reactor (PHWR) projects, Chutka Madhya Pradesh Atomic Power Project 2x700 MW and Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project 4x700 MW, which were identified as a part of fleet mode nuclear projects.

This Supplementary Joint Venture Agreement marks a pivotal step for NTPC Ltd. and NPCIL to collaborate and cooperate in the field of development of Nuclear Power projects which shall help the country in meeting its Clean Energy Commitments to achieve net zero emission target by 2070.


Emirates unveils world's first robotic check-In assistant

Dubai-based airline Emirates has unveiled its latest innovation, the world's first robotic check-in assistant named Sara.

The system is part of a new City Check-in and Travel Store that is set to launch in Dubai's financial district. Sara will match customers' faces with scanned passports, check passengers in, and guide them to the luggage drop area.

The facility allows customers to drop their luggage as early as 24 hours and up to 4 hours before their flight, arriving at the airport at their leisure. Passengers can check in via self-check-in kiosks, at dedicated desks with Emirates agents, or with the help of Sara.


3 new conservation reserves declared in Rajasthan

The Forest Department, Government of Rajasthan announced 3 new Conservation Reserves in Rajasthan. The 3 new wildlife conservation reserves are Sorsan in Baran, Khichan in Jodhpur, and Hamirgarh in Bhilwara.
