India, Israel sign MoU for Industrial Research and Development Cooperation    

India and Israel have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Industrial Research and Development Cooperation was signed between the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) of the Republic of India and the Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D), under the Ministry of Defense of the State of Israel.

India and Israel MoU: Key Highlights  

The MoU shall enable cooperation in the industrial R&D programs in mutually agreeable industrial technology fields through implementation of specific projects. 

The collaboration would encompass some of the key industrial sectors including Healthcare; Aerospace & Electronics Instrumentation; Civil, Infrastructure & Engineering; Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Sustainable Energy including Energy Devices; Ecology, Environment, Earth & Ocean Sciences and Water; Mining, Minerals, Metals & Materials; Agriculture, Nutrition & Biotechnology. 

The collaboration through the MoU would be steered and the execution monitored by a Joint Steering Committee led by the heads of the CSIR and DDR&D for taking forward mutually benefiting Industrial and technology cooperation.


India, Egypt hold 12th round of Foreign Office Consultations in Cairo 

The 12 rounds of India-Egypt Foreign Office Consultations were held in Cairo, Egypt. The last round of consultations took place in 2015 in New Delhi.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest including climate change, resilient supply chains and participation of Global South under India's G20 Presidency.


NTPC commissions first overseas power plant in Bangladesh 

NTPC Limited has commissioned its first overseas power plant capacity addition in Bangladesh.

Named Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant (MSTPP) located in Rampal, Mongla, Bagerhat, Bangladesh the project will have two units of 660 MW capacity, of the 1320 MW (2x660). The new addition takes the Installed Capacity of NTPC to 72304 MW.

This demonstrates the company's global reach and commitment to providing reliable and sustainable power. The project was executed in collaboration with the Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Pvt Ltd. (BIFPCL), a foreign joint venture company of NTPC Ltd.


South Korea to provide $3 billion loan to Bangladesh 

South Korea will provide USD 3 billion financing support to Bangladesh for the metro line, CNG buses and railway signalling system.

South Korea will provide up to $ 3 billion to Bangladesh for the construction of its metro line MRT Line 4 and procurement of CNG buses and modernisation of the railway signalling system. A new Framework Arrangement was signed at Incheon, said an official release from the Embassy of South Korea in Bangladesh.


UAE launches Machines Can See 2023 Summit

REC lists its Green Bonds of USD 750 Million at GIFT IFSC Stock Exchanges 

REC Limited (formerly Rural Electrification Corporation Limited) is a Navratna company under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power has undertaken an exclusive listing of its recently issued Green bonds of USD 750 million raised under its Global Medium Term Programme of USD 7 billion at GIFT IFSC Stock Exchanges in a primary listing ceremony held in GIFT IFSC, Gandhinagar.


RBI imposes ₹10 lakh penalty on The Sutex Co-operative Bank 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹10.00 lakh (Rupees Ten Lakh only) on The Sutex Co-operative Bank Limited Surat, Gujarat for contravention of directions issued by RBI on ‘Loans and advances to directors, relatives and firms / concerns in which they are interested’ and ‘Placement of Deposits with Other Banks by Primary (Urban) Co-operative Banks (UCBs)’.

President Droupadi Murmu visit Odisha 

The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu is on a visit to Odisha (Rairangpur, Pahadpur and Baripada in Mayurbhanj district) from May 4 to 6, 2023.

On 4 May 2023, President Murmu laid the foundation stone of Skill Training Hub and Community Center in Paharpur.

On May 5, 2023, the President will pay her tributes to Pt Raghunath Murmu on his birth anniversary. Later, she will visit Similipal Sanctuary. On May 6, 2023, the President will grace the 12th convocation of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University at Baripada.


President Droupadi Murmu launches ‘Addiction Free Odisha’ campaign

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu launched the ‘Addiction Free Odisha’ campaign of Brahma Kumaris Centre at Hatbadra, Mayurbhanj.

Earlier, the President reached Pahadpur village and paid her respect to Late Shri Shayam Charan Murmu. Subsequently, she laid the foundation stones for the Skill Training Hub and Community Centre in the village and interacted with villagers.
