PM Modi to attend France’s Bastille Day Parade 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit France as a Guest of Honour on July 14 to attend this year’s Bastille Day Parade.

The Ministry of External Affairs informed that an Indian armed forces contingent will participate in the Parade alongside their French counterparts. 

About Bastille Day Parade 

The Bastille Day Parade, also known as the 14th of July Parade or the French National Day Parade, is an annual military parade held on 14 July in Paris, France.


MoD approves posting of Women Officers of Territorial Army along LOC 

In a major development, the Ministry of Defence, Department of Military Affairs, has approved an amendment to existing cadre management provisions for Women Officers of the Territorial Army (TA).

Background 

The Territorial Army had commenced Commissioning of Women Officers in TA since 2019. Thus far these Woman Officers were able to serve Ecological Task Force Units, TA Oil sector units and TA Railway Engineer Regiment. Based on the experience gained during this period, a considered proposal was prepared to extend the employment scope further for women officers in TA which has now been approved by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh in April this year.

Women Officers of the Territorial Army will now be posted with Engineer Regiments of the Territorial Army serving along the Line of Control and as staff officers at TA Group Headquarters/ Directorate General of Territorial Army at New Delhi, as per organizational requirement.


MEA and NCGG complete training programme of 58th batch of civil servants of Bangladesh 

The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) completed its flagship capacity building programme (CBP) for 58th batch of civil servants of Bangladesh, which was attended by 45 officers.

The programme focused on imparting new knowledge in the field of public policies, programmes, governance, use of technology and new skillsets to the officers to design and execute effective public policies and programmes to improve the quality of life of citizens.


India to have its own index to measure heat impact next year

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), India will introduce its own composite index next year to measure heat wave impact and issue impact-based heatwave alerts for specific regions.


Tamil Nadu CM Stalin inaugurates AVM heritage museum in Chennai  

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated the AVM Heritage Museum at AVM Studios in Chennai.

The museum houses old equipment used for mixing and editing, movie artefacts and around 40 cars and 20 bikes used by various actors and AVM, A.V.M. founder Meyyappa Chettiar.


Asian Weightlifting Championships 2023: Jeremy Lalrinnunga wins silver medal 

India’s weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga won a silver in 67 kg snatch event at the Asian Weightlifting Championship 2023 in Jinju, South Korea.

20-year-old Jeremywon a silver medal in the snatch event with a lift of 141kg in the 67 kg weight class. China’s He Yueji finished with the gold.


Asian Weightlifting Championships 2023: Bindyarani Devi wins Silver in Women's 55kg event 

Indian weightlifter Bindyarani Devi won a silver in women’s 55kg snatch event at the Asian Weightlifting Championship 2023 in Jinju, South Korea.

Bindyarani lifts a total of 194kg (83kg+111kg) to open India’s medal count in this edition of the Asian Weightlifting Championship.


Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament 2023: Indian Archery teams win 12 medals 

Indian archery men's and women's teams have won 12 medals including 5 gold medals, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals at the Asia Cup-World Ranking Tournament, Stage II in Tashkent.
