What is G20 Summit 2023?
The 18th edition of G20 Summit 2023 to be held between 9 – 10 September 2023 in New Delhi. India is hosting the 18th G20 summit at the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre (IECC), Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

The G20 Summit 2023 in New Delhi will host all G20 processes and meetings between ministers, senior officials and civil societies.
The G20 Leaders' Declaration will be adopted at the conclusion of the New Delhi G20 Summit, setting out the leaders' commitment to the priorities discussed and agreed upon during the relevant Ministerial and Working Group meetings.

G20 Summit 2023 New Delhi
India holds the Presidency of the G20 from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023. The 2023 G20 New Delhi Summit is the first G20 summit held in India as well as in South Asia.
G20 Summit India: Logo
The G20 Summit 2023 logo takes inspiration from the vibrant colors of the national flag of India – saffron, white and green and blue. The logo connects planet Earth to India's national flower, the lotus, symbolizing growth amid challenges. The Earth reflects India's pro-planet approach to life, which is in perfect harmony with nature. Below the G20 Bharat logo is "भारत" written in Devanagari script.

G20 Summit India: Theme
The theme of G20 summit 2023 of India’s G20 Presidency - "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" or "One Earth · One Family · One Future" – is taken from the ancient Sanskrit text of the Maha Upanishad.
The G20 India Presidency theme also highlights LiFE (Lifestyle for the Environment) with concerned, environmentally sustainable and responsible choices at the individual lifestyle as well as national development level, thereby promoting transformative actions globally which result in a clean, green and blue future.
G20 Summit Focus
The G20 initially focused largely on macroeconomic issues, but later expanded its agenda to include, inter alia, trade, sustainable development, health, agriculture, energy, environment, climate change and anti-corruption.
The G20 Presidency is responsible for bringing together the G20 agenda in consultation with other members and in response to developments in the global economy.
G20 New Delhi Summit: Agenda
The G20 India has mainly put forward six agenda priorities for the G20 Summit 2023 in Delhi.
- Green Growth, Climate Finance and LiFE (Lifestyle for the Environment)
- Accelerating, inclusive and resilient growth, accelerating progress on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Technological Transformation and digital public infrastructure
- Women led sustainable development
- Establishing multilateral institutions for the 21st century
- Inclusion of the African Union in the G20. This is one of the main agendas at the Delhi G20 summit.
G20 Presidency
India's G20 presidency began on 1 December 2022. The award of the G20 Presidency was transferred from Indonesian President Joko Widodo to Indian Prime Minister Modi at the G20 Bali Summit. Indonesia took over the presidency in 2022. Brazil will hold the presidency of the G-20 summit in 2024.
G20 Members
The Group of Twenty (G20) comprises 19 countries (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, United Kingdom and United States) and the European Union.
The G20 members represent approximately 85% of global GDP, more than 75% of global trade and nearly two-thirds of the world population.

G20 Summit India: Invited International Organisations
India has invited the world's International Organisations (UN, IMF, WB, WHO, WTO, ILO, FSB and OECD) and Chairs of Regional Organisations (AU, AUDA-NEPAD and ASEAN), India, as G20 Presidency, will be inviting ISA, CDRI and ADB as Guest International Organisations (IOs).

How to Work G20 Summit
The country holding the G20 presidency drives the G20 agenda for a year and hosts the summit. The G20 consists of two parallel tracks: the Finance Track and the Sherpa Track.
The finance minister and central bank governor lead the finance track while Sherpas lead the Sherpa Track after the Finance Track. On the Sherpa side, the G20 process is coordinated by the Sherpas of the member countries, who are the personal emissaries of the leaders. The finance track is led by the finance ministers and central bank governors of the member countries.
Within the two tracks, there are thematically oriented working groups in which members' respective ministries as well as representatives of invited/guest countries and various international organizations participate.
The Finance track is primarily led by the Ministry of Finance. These working groups meet regularly throughout the term of each presidency. The Sherpas oversee negotiations during the year, discuss agenda items for the summit, and coordinate key G20 functions.
In addition, there are engagement groups that bring together civil societies, parliamentarians, think tanks, women, youth, workers, businesses and researchers from G20 countries.
The G20 group has no permanent secretariat. The Presidency is supported by the Troika – the past, present and incoming Presidencies. During India’s Presidency, the troika will comprise Indonesia, India and Brazil, respectively.
G20 Summit 2024
India will transfer the G20 Presidency to Brazil for 2024. Therefore, the 2024 G-20 Summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
G20 History: Inception of G20
G20 History: The G20 was established in 1999 following the Asian financial crisis as an important forum for finance ministers and central bank governors to discuss global economic and financial issues.
G20 Elevation to Leader’s Level
In the wake of the 2007 global economic and financial crisis, the G20 was upgraded to the level of heads of state/government, and in 2009, it was designated the "Major Forum for International Economic Cooperation".
The G20 Summit is held annually under the leadership of a rotating presidency.
