India-Sri Lanka Joint Military Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2024
The 10th edition of India-Sri Lanka Joint Military Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2024 commenced at Army Training School, Maduru Oya, Sri Lanka. The Exercise is scheduled to be conducted from 12th to 25th August 2024.
Joint Exercise MITRA SHAKTI is an annual training event conducted alternatively in India and Sri Lanka. The 9th edition of India-Sri Lanka Joint Military Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2023 was conducted in Pune in November 2023.

Indian Army in Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2024
The Indian contingent of 106 personnel in Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2024 is being represented by a battalion of the Rajputana Rifles as well as personnel from other branches and services.
Srilankan Army in Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2024
The Sri Lankan contingent in Exercise MITRA SHAKTI is being represented by personnel from Gajaba Regiment of Sri Lankan Army.
Aims of Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2024
The aim of Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2024 is to enhance joint military capability of both India and Sri Lanka to undertake counter insurgency operations in a Sub Conventional scenario under Chapter VII of the United Nations Mandate. The 10th Joint Exercise MITRA SHAKTI will focus on operations in the semi-urban environment.
India-Sri Lanka Military Exercise MITRA SHAKTI will enable both sides to share best practices in Tactics, Techniques and Procedures of conducting joint operations. It will facilitate developing inter-operability, bonhomie and camaraderie between the two armies.
The Joint Exercise MITRA SHAKTI will also enhance defence cooperation, further augmenting bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.
Tactical Drills in Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2024
The tactical activities to be conducted by the Indian and Sri Lankan armies during Exercise Mitra Shakti 2024 include counter terrorist activities, establishment of a joint command post, establishment of an intelligence and surveillance centre, security of a helipad/landing site, insertion and extraction of small parties, special heliborne operations, cordon and search operations, besides use of drones and counter drone systems.
