The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has been ranked the top central banker by the US-based Global Finance magazine. This is the second consecutive year that the RBI Governor Das has been ranked as the top central banker globally. Global Finance Magazine gave a central banker award to the RBI Governor, he got A+ grade in the Central Bank Report Card 2024.

The Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das has been ranked the top central banker by US-based Global Finance Magazine for the second consecutive year.

The RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das received an A+ grade in the Central Bank Report Card 2024 for the second consecutive year. The Global Finance Magazine Central Banker Award 2024 was presented by Global Finance at an event held in Washington DC, USA.
Governor Das was awarded the 'Governor of the Year' award at the Central Banking Awards 2023 in London in June last year.
Christian Kettel Thomsen of Denmark and Thomas Jordan of Switzerland have also been ranked in the 'A+' category of central bankers.
Global Finance Magazine: Rating
According to the Global Finance magazine, the grades they give are based on a scale from A to F for success in inflation control, economic development goals, currency stability and interest rate management. Grade 'A' indicates outstanding performance and grade 'F' indicates complete failure.
Shaktikanta Das 25th Governor of RBI
Shaktikanta Das is the 25th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. He was assumed office on 12 December 2018. He was acting as Member, 15th Finance Commission and also appointed as India's Sherpa at the G20 conference held under the Presidency of India.
Shaktikanta Das is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 198 batch of Tamil Nadu cadre.
Das has held important positions in the Central and State Governments in the areas of Finance, Taxation, Industries, Infrastructure, etc. Das is a former Secretary, Department of Revenue and Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

Das has also served as India’s Alternate Governor in the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), New Development Bank (NDB) and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

Shaktikanta Das holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in History from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University (DU). He also holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Birmingham, UK.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI)
The Reserve Bank of India was established on April 1, 1935 according to the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. The headquarters of the Reserve Bank was initially established in Kolkata but was permanently moved to Mumbai in 1937.

Initially the bank was privately owned, but since nationalization in 1949 it is fully owned by the Government of India.
