Goa Shipyard launches ICGS ATAL Fast Patrol Vessel for Indian Coast Guard

Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) launched ICGS ATAL (Yard 1275) Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). This is the sixth in a series of eight state-of-the-art indigenously designed FPVs being constructed for ICG by GSL. The ATAL Fast Patrol Vessel (FPVs), designed in-house at GSL, are 52 metres in length, with an 8-metre beam and 320-tonne displacement.

Goa Shipyard launches ICGS ATAL Fast Patrol Vessel for ICG

Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) launched ICGS ATAL (Yard 1275) Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) in a ceremony held at Vasco-da-Gama, Goa on 29 July, 2025.

ATAL Fast Patrol Vessel is the sixth in a series of eight state-of-the-art indigenously designed FPVs being constructed for ICG by GSL, the premier Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence.

The ICGS ATAL Fast Patrol Vessel (FPVs), designed in-house at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), are 52 metres in length, with an 8-metre beam and 320-tonne displacement.

ATAL Fast Patrol Vessel high-speed boats are equipped to conduct coastal patrols, island security missions, and offshore asset protection, significantly augmenting India’s maritime domain awareness and national security. The vessel shall also perform anti-smuggling, anti-piracy and search & rescue operations.

The launch ceremony of Atal Fast Patrol Vessel (FPVs) was attended by Senior dignitaries from the Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, Ministry of Defence, strategic industry partners, and Goa Shipyard officials.

About Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) 

Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) established in 1957, functioning under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India.

In 1961, after Goa’s liberation, the potential of a small shipyard called “Estaleiros Navais de Goa” to contribute towards this national aspiration was recognized. The Yard, later renamed Goa Shipyard Limited, was consciously shaped, developed and upgraded to become one of the country’s premier defence shipbuilding hubs on the west coast.
