Dr Geetha Vani Rayasam Assumes Charge As New Director of CSIR-NIScPR

Dr. Geetha Vani Rayasam assumed charge as the new Director of CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR). She has worked in Industries such as Ranbaxy (Daiichi-Sankyo) and Smart Analyst in areas of new drug discovery and development.

Dr Geetha Vani Rayasam Appointed As New Director of CSIR-NIScPR

Dr. Geetha Vani Rayasam has been appointed as the new Director of CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR).

Geetha Vani Rayasam took over the appointment of new Director of CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR), New Delhi with effect from 9th September 2025.

Before being appointed as Director of CSIR-NIScPR, Geetha Vani Rayasam was Head of CSIR-HRDG (CSIR-Human Resource Development Group), New Delhi.

About Dr Geetha Vani Rayasam

Dr Geetha Vani Rayasam, Outstanding Scientist, CSIR, has vast experience in academia, industry, Government of India and abroad. She is a PhD in Biochemistry from IISc Bengaluru and has post-doctoral experience in Institut de génétique et de biologie moléculaire et cellulaire (IGBMC), France and at the NIH, USA.

Geetha Vani Rayasam has worked in Industries such as Ranbaxy (Daiichi-Sankyo) and Smart Analyst in areas of new drug discovery and development.

She has been at Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) for more than a decade in a variety of roles ranging from the Open Source Drug Discovery Programme to Heading Business Development and Industry Alliance at CSIR-IGIB.

About CSIR-NIScPR

CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), New Delhi came into existence on 01-04-2021 with the merger of erstwhile CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (CSIR-NISCAIR), New Delhi and erstwhile CSIR-National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (CSIR-NISTADS), New Delhi.

It was first announced on 14-01-2021 by Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, former Minister of Science and Technology and Minister of Earth Sciences.

Consequent upon the merger of erstwhile CSIR-NISCAIR & erstwhile CSIR-NISTADS into a new institute CSIR-NIScPR, all units/divisions have been reorganized.

Both these institutions have a strong legacy of many decades and contributed in the National Science, Technology & Innovation (ST&I) system in many different ways. The new entity may serve as a 'Think Tank' for Indian ST&I system and may lead ST&I communication and policy studies at National level fulfilling the emerging National aspirations and needs.

Vision of CSIR-NIScPR is to become a globally respected think-tank and resource center for undertaking Science, Technology & Innovation Policy Research and Science Communication.

Mission of CSIR-NIScPR

Mission of CSIR-NIScPR is to promote STI policy studies and science communication among diverse stakeholders and act as a bridge at the interface of science, technology, industry and society which is essential to a robust S&T ecosystem in the country.
