Subhash Chandra Garg assumes charge as Secretary, Ministry of Power

Senior bureaucrat and former finance secretary Subhash Chandra Garg assumed charge as Secretary, Ministry of Power in New Delhi.

Prior to this, he was serving as the Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance. He is a Rajasthan cadre IAS officer of 1983 batch.

Subhash Chandra said that the goal of 5 trillion economy will not be achieved unless power sector performs. So his focus will be on improving efficiency, bringing down costs and improving the health of power sector.

A day after being transferred to the Ministry of Power in a bureaucratic reshuffle, Garg was reported to have sought voluntary retirement from government service. According to rules, Garg will have to serve a notice period up to three months or until his application for voluntary retirement is accepted.........Read More


BS Yediyurappa appointed CM of Karnataka for the 4th term

Karnataka BJP president BS Yediyurappa appointed Chief Minister of Karnataka for the 4th termYediyurappa was sworn as Chief Minister for a fourth time by Governor Vajubhai Vala.

After the JDS-Congress coalition government collapsing in Karnataka, senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa once again became the Chief Minister of the state.

In the last assembly elections held last year, BJP had won 104 out of 222 seats. After this, Yeddyurappa took oath as CM.

 After this, Yeddyurappa resigned just before Floor Test on May 19, 2018.

 BJP Karnataka chief B.S. Yeddyurappa has reverted to the earlier English spelling of his name “Yediyurappa”.

 The change became public on July 26 in his letter to Governor Vajubhai Vala.


Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh scheduled to visit Mozambique from July 28-30

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit Mozambique in Africa from July 28-30. He will have talks with the President, Defence Minister, Foreign Minister and Interior Minister of Mozambique during the visit.

During the visit of Shri Rajnath Singh, three MoUs/Agreements in the fields of exclusive economic zone surveillance, sharing of white shipping information and hydrography would be signed to further strengthen & expand bilateral defence cooperation.

There will also be handing over ceremony from India to Mozambique of two fast interceptor boats and 44 SUVs.


Punjab National Bank reports profit of Rs 1,019 crore for June quarter

Punjab National Bank (PNB) on Friday reported a profit of Rs 1,018.63 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2019, against loss of Rs 940 crore registered in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
