Rs 3.18 lakh crore allocated for Defence Budget in Union Budget 2019-20
Defence Budget 2019-20: An allocation of Rs 3.18 lakh crore has been allocated for defense sector, in the Union Budget to the defence sector for 2019-20 as against last year's Rs 2.98 lakh crore.
Out of the total amount allocated for defense budget, Rs 1,08,248 crore has been set for capital expenditures for the purchase of new weapons, platforms and military hardware.
The Revenue expenditure, including expenditure on payment of salaries and maintenance of establishments, has been estimated at Rs. 2,10,682 crores. It was Rs. 1,88,118 crore in the budget of 2018-19.
However, no change was made this time in the total defence budget and it was similar to the defence quota of the interim budget presented on February 1.
In the total budget, Rs.1,12,079 crore is not included for the payment of pension separately, if the pension allocation is added, then the defense budget reaches 4.31 lakh crore, which is 15.47 percent of the total expenditure for the central government for the year 2019-20.
