Rajnath Singh commissions indigenously built submarine INS Khanderi


Fully automated submarine INS Khanderi is built at state-run Mazgaon Dock Limited and underwent rigorous sea trials for over two and a half years.

 Key features of the submarine include a state-of-the-art stealth technology which reduces its noise under the sea.
 Its maximum speed is 20 nautical miles, which is a world standard for most of the attack type of submarines.

Another crucial feature of the new submarine is that unlike the previous requirement of 60 crew, its maximum requirement is 36 crew. It saves oxygen availability and increases its capacity to stay underwater for long periods.........Read More




Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh launches Navy's first new stealth frigate, INS 'Nilgiri'

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh launched the warship Nilgiri, which is the first ship of Project 17A, and said that launching the first of such stealth frigates has brought him immense pride and satisfaction for the defence capabilities of the country.

INS Nilgiri is the first of the Indian Navy's seven new stealth frigates with enhanced stealth features fitted with State-of-the-art weapons & sensors. This multi-mission frigate would be capable of dealing with conventional & unconventional threats to India’s Maritime interests.......Read More


Former Foreign Secretary K P S Menon (Junior) passes away at 90 in Kerala

Former diplomat K P S Menon (junior) has passed away at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala due to age-related ailments. He was 90.

 K P S Menon (junior) was a 1951 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer.
 He served as an ambassador to various countries, including Bangladesh, Egypt, Japan and China.
 He had served as the Foreign Secretary of India from 1987 to 1989.

His father Kumara Padma Sivasankara Menon or K.P.S. Menon (Senior) was the first Foreign Secretary of independent India.......Read More



Prakash Javadekar inaugurates exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi and Leo Tolstoy in Russia

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Prakash Javadekar inaugurated a unique exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi and Leo Tolstoy at Yasnaya Polyana, the birth place of Tolstoy in Russia. The exhibition presented and highlighted their correspondence and their thought process in a very artistic manner.

The Minister, who is on a visit to Russia to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting also, inaugurated a special day-long seminar organised to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi as part of 150 years of celebrating the Mahatma.


Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate Delhi-Meerut Expressway package-3

Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways and MSMEs Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the Delhi-Meerut Expressway package-3 on the 30th of September, 2019. Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways Gen (Retd) Dr V K Singh will be present on the occasion.

The 82-kilometre long Delhi-Meerut Expressway connects Delhi with Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh. A sum of Rs 8346 crore is likely to be spent on the project.
