Vice President Venkaiah Naidu presents 28th Saraswati Samman to Telugu poet K Siva Reddy

The Vice President, M. Venkaiah Naidu has honored the Telugu litterateur Dr. K Siva Reddy with the 28th Saraswati Samman 2018 for the creation of his famous poetry collection ‘Pakkaki Ottigilite’ (Turning aside while lying down).

28th Saraswati Samman presentation ceremony organized by the KK Birla Foundation in New Delhi.

The award, instituted by the KK Birla Foundation, is given annually for an outstanding literary work written in any official Indian languages and published during the preceding 10 years.

Pakkaki Ottigilite, published in 2016, is an anthology of 104 poems in blank verse. It captures the responses of the poet over the years to social change, the evolution of his own self and his dynamic relationship with the world.

About Saraswati Samman:

The Saraswati Samman is an annual award for outstanding prose or poetry literary works in any of the 22 languages of India listed in Schedule VIII of the Constitution of India.

The Saraswati Samman was instituted in 1991 by the K. K. Birla Foundation. It consists of Rs 15 lakh, a citation and a plaque.

To felicitate writers, the KK Birla Foundation has instituted three awards in the field of literature. These are the Saraswati Samman, Vyas Samman (for Hindi) and Bihari Puraskar (for Hindi and Rajasthani writers of Rajasthan).
