Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend BRICS Summit at Brazil from 13th to 14th November

BRICS Summit 2019: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Brasilia, Brazil on 13th - 14th November 2019 to attend the 11th BRICS Summit. The theme of the BRICS summit this year is "Economic Growth for an Innovative Future.”

This will be the sixth time that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be participating at the BRICS summit. His first BRICS summit was at Fortaleza in Brazil in 2014.

The discussions are expected to be focused on challenges and opportunities for the exercise of national sovereignty in the contemporary world. This will be followed by the BRICS Plenary Session where the leaders will discuss the intra BRICS cooperation for the economic development of BRICS societies.

BRICS brings together five major emerging economies comprising 42 percent of the world's population, having 23 percent of the global GDP and around 17 percent of the share and world trade.

Swachh – Nirmal Tat Abhiyaan

Swachh – Nirmal Tat Abhiyaan: The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) are undertaking a mass cleanliness-cum-awareness drive in 50 identified beaches under the “Swachh – Nirmal Tat Abhiyaan”, from 11th -17th November, 2019.

The identified beaches are in 10 coastal States/Union Territories (UTs) namely Gujarat, Daman & Diu, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha. The beaches have been identified after the consultation with the States/UTs.

The cleaning drives in all beaches are being undertaken, involving school/college students of Eco-clubs, district administration, institutions, volunteers, local communities and other stakeholders.

For beach cleaning activities which will be a duration of two hours on a daily basis, a minimum of one Kilometre stretch of the beach shall be identified. Beach sand cleaning machines shall also be deployed at about identified 15 beaches. Thereafter collected waste will be processed as per extant Waste Management Rules, 2016.


Environment Education Division of the Ministry and Society of Integrated Coastal Management (SICOM) under the aegis of this Ministry will be responsible for the overall coordination for the drive in 50 beaches. Inaugural conclave: National Capital Region - 2041 to be held in Delhi


The Regional Plan-2041 for NCR will be among the key instruments to address various issues related to harmonious development of the largest metropolitan region of the world. The Conclave will be chaired by D.S. Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Govt. of India.


The Conclave will have participation from all NCR participating States, concerned Ministries/Departments of Govt. of India, Knowledge Institutions, Industries, Housing Associations, Subject Experts, Field Officers from various districts, and other stakeholders. Engagement of experts from various organizations/stakeholders is being ensured for successful preparation of this multi-sectoral regional plan.

This is an effort to encourage a deeper participation from all the stakeholders. Former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan Passes Away at 66 in Chennai

Former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan Passes Away Live Updates: Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Tirunellai Narayana Iyer Seshan passed away of a cardiac arrest in Chennai. He was 86.

TN Seshan retired 1955 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, Seshan became the 10th Chief Election Commissioner of India, serving from December 12, 1990 to December 11, 1996.

TN Seshan was Born on December 15, 1932, in Thirunellai, Palakkad district, Kerala. His father was a lawyer in the district court. TN Seshan went to school in Kerala, then studied science at Madras Christian College in Chennai.
