Indian Steel Association to organise ISA - Steel Conclave 2019 on 21st - 22nd November
ISA - Steel Conclave 2019: The Indian Steel Association supported by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India is organising the second Edition of “ISA – Steel Conclave 2019” on 21st – 22nd November, 2019 at New Delhi to deliberate on Indian and Global Perspectives of the Steel Industry.
Union Minister for Steel Dharmendra Pradhan will be the Chief Guest at the Steel Conclave.
The Conclave would feature discussions among the Senior Industry Leaders, Government and Consultants on the Innovations and Technology, Role of Steel in Construction & Design, Steel Exports, Capital Goods, Environmental Management and other Cutting-edge Issues.

IRCTC signs an MoU with KSTDC to run the Golden Chariot Train
Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), a tourism arm of Indian Railways, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) to market and operate the Golden Chariot Train in New Delhi.
Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) will soon hand over the reins of the train to IRCTC. IRCTC is planning a revamp of the train itineraries also to add different flavours that Karnataka has to offer. The new itineraries will be a mix of history, culture, wildlife and nature. It is proposed to include Bandipur, Mysore, Halebid, Chikmagalur, Hampi, Bijapur and Goa in the itinerary.
IRCTC is expected to carry out internal refurbishment of the train and commence operations from March 2020.......Read More
Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill, 2019 passed by the Parliament
Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill, 2019 has been passed by the Parliament after it was passed in Rajya Sabha.
The Bill was earlier passed in Lok Sabha on 2nd August 2019. It seeks to make apolitical the trust that runs Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial by removing the clause pertaining to the President of INC as a permanent member of the trust.
The Bill also amends to include the Leader of Opposition recognised as such in the House of the People (Lok Sabha) or where there is no such Leader of Opposition, then the Leader of the single largest Opposition Party in that House as a member of the trust.
The Bill also amends that a nominated trustee may be terminated before the expiry of the period of five years by the Central Government.
Rashtrapati Bhavan Hosts Conference of Directors of IITs, NITs and IIEST
Rashtrapati Bhavan hosted the conference of Directors of IITs, NITs and IIEST, Shibpur (November 19, 2019). Apart from the Directors of 23 IITs, 31 NITs and IIEST, Shibpur, it was attended by the Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Secretary (Higher Education), Secretary, Department of Science and Technology and Chairman AICTE.
This Conference is part of regular interactions of the President with such institutions in his capacity as visitor to 152 Central Universities and institutions of higher learning.
ADB, India Sign USD 91 Million Loan for Comprehensive Water Management in Karnataka
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a $91 million loan to modernize the Vijayanagara Channel irrigation systems and prepare river basin management plans in the Krishna river basin that will help improve irrigation water use efficiency and contribute to improving sustainable water security in Karnataka.
The investment program will help Government of Karnataka in strengthening its institutions involved in integrated water resource management and modernizing the irrigation system infrastructure for improving water use efficiency in the State.
The project interventions are also tackling inefficient water use in agriculture that accounts for over 84% of the state’s total water use. This will improve water availability to meet the rising demand from other users in the state......Read More
