2nd National GST Conference held in New Delhi for streamlining GST system

The 2nd National GST Conference of the Commissioners of State Tax and Chief Commissioners of Central Tax was held in New Delhi, under the chairmanship of Dr Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Revenue Secretary, Ministry of Finance.

Focus On:

The Conference was focused on brainstorming session for streamlining Goods and Services Tax (GST) system and plugging revenue leakages. This was the 2nd edition of all India Conference where both tax administrations came together formally to build synergy and to share their knowledge and best practices with intent to bring about uniformity in tax administrations.

All Chief Commissioners of Central Tax Zones, State Commissioners of State Taxes, Directors General of CBIC, members of CBIC, Chairman, CBDT, along with his team of Senior officers, Director of FIU-India along with his team of Senior officers, senior officers of the CBIC and Department of Revenue, technical team of GSTN led by EVP GSTN and officers from the GST Council Secretariat etc. participated in the Conference.

IBBI amends the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Liquidation Process) Regulations, 2016


The amendment clarifies that a person, who is not eligible under the Code to submit a resolution plan for insolvency resolution of the corporate debtor, shall not be a party in any manner to a compromise or arrangement of the corporate debtor under section 230 of the Companies Act, 2013. 


It also clarifies that a secured creditor cannot sell or transfer an asset, which is subject to security interest, to any person, who is not eligible under the Code to submit a resolution plan for insolvency resolution of the corporate debtor.......Read More


Bangladesh court orders government to ban single-use plastics in hotels and restaurants

The Bangladesh High Court ordered the government to impose a ban on single use plastic in coastal areas and hotels and restaurants across the country within the next one year.

As per the Bangladesh Environment Conservation Act polythene has been banned in the country since 2002 but its use is continuing all over Bangladesh.


Government approves over Rs. 5,908 crore of additional Central assistance to 7 States


The High Level Committee (HLC), chaired by the Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah to consider additional central assistance to seven states, which were affected by floods/ landslides/cloudburst during south west monsoon 2019.

HLC approved additional central assistance of Rs. 5908.56 crore to seven States from National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) - Rs. 616.63 crore to Assam, Rs. 284.93 crore to Himachal Pradesh, Rs. 1869.85 crore to Karnataka, Rs. 1749.73 crore to Madhya Pradesh, Rs. 956.93 crore to Maharashtra, Rs. 63.32 to Tripura and Rs 367.17 crore to Uttar Pradesh for floods/ landslides/cloudburst during south west monsoon 2019......Read More
