1. President Ram Nath Kovind confers 61st Annual Lalit Kala Akademi Awards
  • The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, conferred the 61st annual Lalit Kala Akademi Awards on 15 meritorious artists at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
  • Artists honoured are: Anoop Kumar Manzukhi Gopi, David Malakar, Devendra Kumar Khare, Dinesh Pandya, Faruque Ahmed Halder, Hari Ram Kumbhawat, Keshari Nandan Prasad, Mohan Kumar T, Ratan Krishna Saha, Sagar Vasant Kamble, Satwinder Kaur, Sunil Thiruvayur, Tejaswi Narayan Sonawane, Yashpal Singh and Yashwant Singh. Artwork of these artists will be on display till March 22, 2020, at the 61st National Exhibition of Art at the Lalit Kala Akademi galleries in New Delhi.


2. Cabinet approves MoU between India and Côte d’lvoire for cooperation in the field of Health
  • The Union Cabinet has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene of the Republic of Cote d'lvoire on Cooperation in the field of Health.


3. Cabinet approves Mega Consolidation in Public Sector Banks PSBs with effect from 1st April 2020
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has approved the mega consolidation of ten PSBs into four which include the –
  1. Amalgamation of Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank of India into Punjab National Bank
  2. Amalgamation of Syndicate Bank into Canara Bank
  3. Amalgamation of Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank into Union Bank of India
  4. Amalgamation of Allahabad Bank into Indian Bank


4. Cabinet approves Companies (Second Amendment) Bill, 2019
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has approved the Companies (Second Amendment) Bill, 2019 to amend the Companies Act, 2013.
  • The Bill would remove criminality under the Act in case of defaults which can be determined objectively and which, otherwise, lack the element of fraud or do not involve larger public interest. This would also lead to further de-clogging of the criminal justice system in the country. The Bill would also further ease of living for law abiding corporates.


5. India Pharma, India Medical Device 2020 Conference to be held from 5 -7 March at Gandhinagar
  • The Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry- FICCI is organising India Pharma 2020 & India Medical Device 2020 Conference & Exhibition at Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat from March 5-7, 2020. 
  • The three day conference will be inaugurated by the Chemicals & Fertilizers Minister Shri Sadananda Gowda MoS (C&F), Mansukh Mandviya will also address the conference.
  • Theme of the event is “India Pharma: Meeting Challenges of Affordable and Quality Healthcare and India Medical Device: Promoting Affordable responsible and Quality Medical Device for Universal Health Care”


6. APEDA Signs MoUs with various organisations for Implemetation of Agri Export Policy
  • Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA) has been focusing on collaborative approach to bring synergy with number of organisations and institutions having inherent professional and specialised expertise in different areas for capacity building of various stakeholders and providing solutions for addressing some of the identified interventions for the development of Agriculture and its export enhancement in consonance with the objectives set under Agri Export Policy (AEP) announced by Government of India.


7. Pragyan Conclave 2020: Indian Army’s International Seminar Analysing Future Warfare
  • “PRAGYAN CONCLAVE 2020”, a two-day Indian Army International Seminar being organised by Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), commenced on 04 Mar 2020 at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. The event brings together a cross-domain national and international experts to deliberate on the complex subject of ‘Changing Characteristics of Land Warfare and its Impact on the Military’.


8. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launches Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Phase-II
  • The Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched Phase II of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) [SBM (G)] at a National Dissemination and Consultation workshop in New Delhi.
  • Phase – II of the SBM(G) will focus on sustaining the gains made under the programme in last five years in terms of toilet access and usage, ensuring that no one is left behind. It will ensure that effective solid and liquid waste management (SLWM) is instituted in every Gram Panchayat of the country.
