I. FM Nirmala Sitharaman attends 1st BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting
  • Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman participated in the 1st BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting under the BRICS Russian Chairmanship.
  • The agenda of the meeting included discussions on the outcomes of G20 Saudi Presidency in 2020, a digital platform to encourage infrastructure investments and expansion of the membership of the New Development Bank.


II. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh Unveils A-Sat Missile Model in DRDO Bhawan
  • A model of Anti Satellite (A-SAT) Missile installed inside the DRDO Bhawan premises was unveiled today by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh in the august presence of Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari and Secretary DDR&D & Chairman DRDO, Dr G Satheesh Reddy.
  • ‘Mission Shakti’ was country’s first ever Anti-Satellite (ASAT) Missile Test successfully conducted on 27th March 2019 from Dr AP J Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha, where a fast-moving Indian orbiting target satellite in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) was neutralised with pinpoint accuracy.


III. PM Modi to inaugurate Office-cum-Residential Complex of Cuttack Bench of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the state-of-the-art office-cum-residential complex of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) at Cuttack on 11th November, 2020 at 4:30 PM via video conferencing. 
  • Union Law Minister, Union Petroleum Minister, Chief Minister of Odisha, Chief Justice and Judges of Orissa High Court, along with other dignitaries would also be present during the event. On this occasion, an e-Coffee Table Book on ITAT will also be released.
  • Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, also known as ITAT, is an important statutory body in the field of direct taxes and its orders are accepted as final, on findings of fact. It is presently headed by Mr. Justice (Retd) P.P. Bhatt, formerly Judge of the High Court of Jharkhand and High Court of Gujarat.


IV. 29 Projects Approved Under Chairmanship of Shri Narendra Singh Tomar
  • Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee (IMAC) meeting chaired by Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries today approved 21 projects, leveraging investment worth Rs 443 crores supported with a grant of Rs. 189 Crores under the Scheme for Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition. 8 projects leveraging investment worth Rs 62 crores with grants of Rs. 15 cr under the BFL Scheme were approved in another meeting chaired by Union FPI Minister.
  • These projects are spread across the 10 states of Andhra, Gujarat, HP, J&K, Kerala, Nagaland, Punjab, Telangana, UK, UP. The Scheme for Integrated Cold Chain and Value addition infrastructure aims at arresting post-harvest losses of horticulture & non-horticulture produce & providing remunerative price to farmers.


V. PM Modi to address virtual SCO summit chaired by Russian President today
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today lead the Indian delegation to the 20th Summit of SCO Council of Heads of States, which is being held virtually. 
  • The meeting will be chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Heads of States of all 8 Member States, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will be present at the meeting. 
  • Heads of State of 4 Observer States of SCO, Iran, Afghanistan, Belarus and Mongolia will also participate. Leaders of the Member States will address the summit.


VI. Arunachal Pradesh School Children to Wear Khadi Face Masks
  • Thousands of school children in Arunachal Pradesh will be sporting tri-color Khadi Face Masks as they return to their schools for the first time post Covid-19 lockdown. Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has supplied 60,000 high quality Khadi Cotton Face Masks for school children as the Arunachal Pradesh government has decided to reopen schools from November 16.
  • This purchase order assumes great significance as this is for the first time that a State Government in North East India has purchased such a huge quantity of Khadi face masks for its students. The purchase order was issued on November 3, and in just 6 days, KVIC has supplied the requisite masks to the government considering the urgency involved. In order to ensure timely delivery of masks, KVIC has dispatched the consignment by air.


VII. Foreign Secretary Dr. Harshvardhan Shringla on two-day Maldives visit
  • Foreign Secretary Dr. Harshvardhan Shringla is currently on a visit to Male’ from November 8-10, 2020. It is the first high-level bilateral visit from India to the Maldives this year and follows the interaction held on 13 August 2020 between External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid in the digital video-conference format.


VIII. Daniil Medvedev defeats Alexander Zverev in Paris Masters final to clinch his 8th ATP title
  • World number five Daniil Medvedev defeated Alexander Zverev 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 in the Paris Masters final to clinch his eighth ATP title yesterday. World number seven, Zverev of Germany, who beat World number two Rafael Nadal in semi-finals, took an early advantage.
