India, USA sign MoU on Intellectual Property cooperation: Quick Highlights
India, USA sign MoU on Intellectual Property cooperation: Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade(DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 2nd December 2020, in the field of Intellectual Property Cooperation with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Department of Commerce of the United States of America.
The Union Cabinet in its meeting dated 19.02.2020 gave the approval for signing the MoU with United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in the field of IP Cooperation.

MDH owner Mahashay Dharampal Gulati passes away due to cardiac arrest
'Mahashay' Dharampal Gulati, the owner and CEO of the iconic spice masala brand MDH (Mahashian Di Hatti), passed away due to cardiac arrest. He was 97.
MDH owner Dharampal Gulati was undergoing treatment at Mata Chanan Devi Hospital in Delhi for the last three weeks.

Jharkhand choose Option-1 to meet the GST implementation shortfall
Government of Chhattisgarh has communicated its acceptance of Option-1 to meet the revenue shortfall arising out of GST implementation. The number of States who have favoured Option-1 has gone up to 27. All States except Jharkhand and all the 3 Union Territories with Legislative Assembly have decided in favour of Option-1.
The States & Union Territories who choose Option-1 are getting the amount of shortfall arising out of GST implementation through a special borrowing window put in place by the Government of India. The window has been operationalised since 23rd October, 2020 and the Government of India has already borrowed an amount of Rs.30,000 crore on behalf of the States in five instalments and passed it on to the States and Union Territories, who chose Option-1.
The funds borrowed through the special window were released to the States and UTs on 23rd October, 2020, 2nd November, 2020, 9th November, 2020, 23rd November, 2020 and 1st December, 2020. Now the State of Chhattisgarh will also receive funds raised through this window starting from the next round of borrowing.
Under the terms of Option-1, besides getting the facility of a special window for borrowings to meet the shortfall arising out of GST implementation, the States are also entitled to get unconditional permission to borrow the final instalment of 0.50% of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) out of the 2% additional borrowings permitted by the Government of India, under AtmanirbharAbhiyaan on 17th May, 2020. This is over and above the Special Window of Rs.1.1 lakh crore. On receipt of the choice of Option-1, the Government of India has granted additional borrowing permission of Rs.1,792 crore to the State Government of Chhattisgarh (0.50 % of Chhattisgarh’s GSDP).
“Hunar Haat” to be organised at Rampur and Lucknow (UP) by Union Ministry of Minority Affairs
Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi announced today that the next “HunarHaat” will be organised at Numaish Ground, Rampur(UP) from 18th to 27th December, 2020 and Shilp Gram, Lucknow(UP) from 23rd to 31st January 2021 with the theme of “Vocal for Local”.
Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shri NitinGadkari and Khadi and Village Industries Commission Chairman Shri Vinay Kumar Saxena will inaugurate the “HunarHaat” at Rampur, to be organised from 18th December, 2020.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the “HunarHaat” to be organised at Lucknow from 23rd January, 2021.
The “HunarHaat” at Rampur and Lucknow will also be available at virtual and online platform
http://hunarhaat.org . People of the country and abroad will also be able to buy “HunarHaat” products on digital and online platforms also.
Artisans and craftsmen from 27 States/UTs including Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Manipur, Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and other states of the country will bring their indigenous exquisite handmade products for display and sale at these HunarHaats.
Union Minister Shri Naqvi announced that in the coming days, “HunarHaat” will be organized at Jaipur, Chandigarh, Indore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, India Gate-New Delhi, Ranchi, Kota,Surat/Ahmedabad, Kochiand other places. Dates of these “HunarHaat” will be finalised soon.
Ravi Kumar, Deepak Punia among 24 wrestlers to represent India in Wrestling World Cup from December 12
A contingent of 42 members (24 wrestlers, 9 coaches, 3 support staff and 3 referees) will be travelling to Belgrade, Serbia to represent India at the Senior Individual World Cup to be held from December 12 to December 18, 2020. It will be the first international competition that Indian wrestlers will be participating in, after the nationwide lockdown was imposed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The participation in the tournament has been sanctioned by the government at an overall cost of more than Rs. 90 lakhs and will include Air Tickets, Boarding and Lodging, United World Wrestling licence fees, visa fees and out of pocket allowances for players, coaches and referees.
The following wrestlers will participate in the tournament:
Men’s freestyle: Ravi Kumar (57 kg), Rahul Aware (61 kg), Naveen (70 kg), Gourav Baliyan (79 kg), Deepak Punia (86 kg), Satyavart Kadian (97 kg), Sumit (125 kg).
Men’s Greco-Roman: Arjun Halakurki (55 kg), Gyanender (60 kg), Sachin Rana (63 kg), Ashu (67 kg), Aditya Kundu (72 kg), Sajan (77 kg), Sunil Kumar (87 kg), Hardeep (97 kg), Naveen (130 kg).
Women’s: Nirmala Devi (50 kg), Pinki (55 kg), Anshu (57 kg), Sarita (59 kg), Sonam (62 kg), Sakshi Malik (65 kg), Gursharan Preet Kaur (72 kg), Kiran (76 kg).
India have attained a total of four Olympic quotas in wrestling through Bajrang Punia (men’s freestyle 65 kg), Vinesh Phogat (women’s 53 kg), Ravi Kumar and Deepak Punia. They will have two more opportunities to attain the remain quotas at the Asian Qualification Tournament scheduled in March 2021 and the World Qualification Tournament scheduled from April 29 to May 2, 2021.
