Government announces New Scheme for tourist vehicle operators 

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced a new scheme, under which any tourist vehicle operator may apply for an “All India Tourist Authorization/Permit” through online mode. It will be issued, after relevant documents are submitted and fees deposited, within 30 days of submission of such applications. 

The new set of rules,to be known as, “All India Tourist Vehicles Authorization and Permit Rules, 2021” has been published vide GSR 166( E) dated 10 March 2021. The new rules will be applicable from 01 April 2021. All existing permits shall continue to be in force during their validity.....Read More


West Bengal Elections: EC takes action against officials for Nandigram incident 

West Bengal Elections: EC takes action against officials for Nandigram incident: The Election Commission on Sunday removed top officials for failing to ensure security to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The poll panel removed the Director, Security, and placed him under suspension. The election commission also ordered the suspension of Purba Medinipur SP.

The Elections Commission decided the following:

  1. Shri Vivek Sahay IPS, Director Security shall be removed from the post of the Director Security and be placed under suspension immediately. The charges must be framed against him within a week for grossly failing in discharge of his primary duty as Director Security to protect the Z+ protectee.
  2. Chief Secretary, in consultation with DGP, is authorised to post suitable Director Security immediately following the extant procedure. Posting order may be communicated to the Commission latest by 1300 hours on 15th March 2021.
  3. A Committee of Chief Secretary and DGP shall identify within next three days the other proximate security personnel below Director Security,who failed in their duties to prevent the incident and protect the Z+ protected VVIP and take suitable action for their failure under intimation to the Commission by 1700 hours on 17th March 2021.
  4. Ms. Smita Pandey IAS: 2005 be posted immediately as DM and DEO, Purba Medinipur in place of Mr Vibhu Goel IAS who shall be transferred to a non-election post.......Read More


Bank Strike Today: Banks nationwide strike against privatisation on Monday and Tuesday 

Bank Strike TodayThe strike has been called by nine unions under the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) banner has called for a two-day nationwide strike on March 15 and 16 against the privatisation of Public Sector Banks and retrograde banking reforms. 

According to the statement of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), 10 lakh employees and officers of banks will participate in the strike to protest against the proposed privatisation.

Banking services will be affected due to the bank being closed for two days. The strike will affect services such as withdrawing and depositing money in bank branch, withdrawal and loan clearance........Read More

Both Houses of Parliament to resume proceedings today  

Both Houses of Parliament will resume proceedings on Monday after a break of four days. Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to introduce the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021 in the Lok Sabha.

The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2021, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Amendment) Bill, 2021, The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill, 2021 and the Marine Aids to Navigation Bill, 2021 is also scheduled to be introduced in the lower house. The Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2021 will come up for discussion in the Lok Sabha.

Mithali Raj creates history, becomes first woman cricketer to complete 7,000 ODI runs  

India Women's ODI team captain Mithali Raj achieved a historic milestone on Sunday as she became the first female cricketer in history to score 7,000 ODI runs.

Mithali achieved the record during the fourth ODI between India and South Africa women in Lucknow. Before the start of the game, the Indian women's captain had 6,974 runs in her ODI career.

Bhavani Devi becomes first Indian fencer to qualify for Olympics 

Bhavani Devi, from Tamil Nadu has scripted history by becoming first-ever Indian fencer to qualify for the Olympics. Bhavani became the first Indian swordsman to qualify for the Olympics.

She qualified after Hungary lost to South Korea in the quarterfinals of the Fencing Sabre World Cup.

Bhavani Devi qualified through the Adjusted Official Ranking (AOR) Method. She is ranked 45th and occupies one of the two available slots based on the ranking.
