India and Japan signs MoU for Academic and Research Cooperation and Exchange: The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, is apprised of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL), Dept of Space, Government of India and Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere (RISH), Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan for Academic and Research Cooperation and Exchange on November 4, 2020 and November 11, 2020 at respective institutes and exchanged by post.

India-Seychelles High Level Event held in Virtual Format 

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will take part in a high level virtual event with the President of the Republic of Seychelles  Wavel Ramkalawan on April 8, 2021 to inaugurate a range of Indian projects in Seychelles.

The high level virtual event will feature the following:

  • Joint e-inauguration of the new Magistrates’ Court Building in Seychelles;
  • Handing over of a Fast Patrol Vessel to Seychelles Coast Guard;
  • Handing over of a 1 MW Solar Power Plant;
  • Inauguration of 10 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs).


Kazakhstan Defence Minister Lieutenant General Nurlan Yermekbayev visits India for bilateral talks  

Minister of Defence of Republic of Kazakhstan Lieutenant General Nurlan Yermekbayev is on an official visit to India from April 7-10, 2021. The Kazakh Defence Minister is scheduled to arrive in Jodhpur today and is expected to travel to Jaisalmer, New Delhi and Agra for meetings and visit to defence establishments.

Lieutenant General Nurlan Yermekbayev will hold a bilateral meeting with Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on April 09, 2021. This will be the first meeting after Lieutenant General Nurlan Yermekbayev was re-appointed as Defence Minister of Kazakhstan.

The two Ministers had last met in Moscow on September 05, 2020 on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ meeting. The Kazakh Defence Minister is in India on the invitation of Raksha Mantri.


FM Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman attends Second Virtual G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting 

Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman participated virtually in the Second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting under the Italian Presidency here today to discuss policy responses to global challenges to restore strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth.

The G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors discussed Updates of the G20 Action Plan in response to COVID-19. They also discussed supporting the financing needs of the most vulnerable economies, the progress on the international taxation agenda, promoting greener transitions and the pandemic related financial regulation issues.


Union Agriculture Minister launches 'मधुक्रान्तिपोर्टल' & 'Honey Corners'  

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar launched “मधुक्रान्तिपोर्टल” and Honey Corners of NAFED in New Delhi.  “मधुक्रान्तिपोर्टल” is an initiative of National Bee Board (NBB), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under National Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM). 

This portal is being developed for online registration to achieve traceability source of Honey and other beehive products on a digital platform. The technical and banking partner for development of this digital platform is Indian Bank. An MoU between NBB and Indian Bank was signed for this project.


Cabinet approves Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods (Air Conditioners and LED Lights)  

Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, approved the Production Linked
Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods (Air Conditioners and LED Lights) with a budgetary outlay of Rs. 6,238 crore.

The prime objective of the PLI scheme is to make manufacturing in India globally competitive by removing sectoral disabilities, creating economies of scale and ensuring efficiencies. It is designed to create complete component ecosystem in India and make India an integral part of the global supply chains. The scheme is expected to attract global investments, generate large scale employment opportunities and enhance exports substantially.

The PLI Scheme for White Goods shall extend an incentive of 4% to 6% on incremental sales of goods manufactured in India for a period of five years to companies engaged in manufacturing of Air Conditioners and LED Lights.


Ministry of AYUSH and Department of Animal Husbandry signs MoU for research on new formulations in quality drugs for veterinary science  

An Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of AYUSH and Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying today for research on new formulations in quality drugs for veterinary science through medicinal herbs.

The initiative involves capacity building in related areas through training, exploring marketing possibilities for herbal veterinary medicines on a sustainable basis and providing for services including cultivation, preservation and conservation of medicinal plants.


Health Minister Harsh Vardhan launches Tribal Health Collaborative ‘Anamaya’  

Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare along with Shri Arjun Munda, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs launched ‘Anamaya’, the Tribal Health Collaborative through video conference. 

A multi-stakeholder initiative supported by Piramal Foundation and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF),‘Anameya’ will converge efforts of various Government agencies and organisations to enhance the health and nutrition status of the tribal communities of India.


Cabinet approves Production Linked Incentive scheme 'National Programme on High Efficiency Solar PV Modules'  

The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy's proposal for implementation of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme 'National Programme on High Efficiency Solar PV (Photo Voltic) Modules' for achieving manufacturing capacity of Giga Watt (GW) scale in high efficiency solar PV modules with an outlay of Rs.4,500 crore.

Solar capacity addition presently depends largely upon imported solar PV cells and modules as the domestic manufacturing industry has limited operational capacities of solar PV cells and modules. The National Programme on High Efficiency Solar PV Modules will reduce import dependence in a strategic sector like electricity. It will also support the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

In view of the current COVID-19 status, the Chhattisgarh government imposed complete lockdown in capital Raipur from April 09. The lockdown will continue till 19th April.


Maharashtra govt decided to All state board students of class 9th, 11th promoted without any exam 

In view of the current COVID-19 status, the Maharashtra government has promoted all the state board students of class 9th and 11th without any examination. 

Maharashtra government state's Education minister Varsha Gaikwad announced this decision today. 1 to 8 class students are already promoted to the next class. 


President Kovind promulgates Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021

The President promulgated the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021 on 4th April 2021. The Cabinet had approved on 31st March 2021 the proposal to make amendments in the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (Code), through the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021.

The amendments aims to provide an efficient alternative insolvency resolution framework for corporate persons classified as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under the Code, for ensuring quicker, cost-effective and value maximising outcomes for all the stakeholders, in a manner which is least disruptive to the continuity of MSMEs businesses and which preserves jobs.
